Heard some stuff about the delay might be due to Elanga changing agent at the end of last month. Maybe whoever has taken over needs to give his terms a once over before he signs anything.

That's interesting if true. I suppose it could be a reason for a delay. I do wonder who gets the agent's cut of the deal if there's a change just before a transfer as presumably the previous agent will have done much of the work for it. All pure speculation obviously, could well be just us and Forest still haggling.

Are we the only CL team in the league that hasn’t strengthened yet? Hopefully we will sooner rather than later. It’s still early but I’m not surprised to see it taking a while for us. It almost feels like we don’t even start working on deals beforehand (window opens)

Gut feeling is so similar to one of those games though, you know when you dominate but you just never look like scoring in a million minutes

Well yeah, but my point is why is this like that.

Done deal

Nowhere near a done deal

Close to being done

Not met his valuation

Etc etc etc

Yeh I think we are actually.

But we also have the least resources which means we have the least pull.

One thing that bothers me a little, is we don't know who is working on these deals and gets budget approval. Before PIF gave the green light to Staveley, it was Staveley, Ashworth, and Nickson who were the delegation that got the job done.

I remember when we signed Isak - it was so quick. Got the greenlight to spend more money, went to Sociedad and got the deal done.

Also seems like now we have smaller budgets. I remember reading we had overpaid for Tonali & Isak by journalists and the like. And the fees for a few others were largely based on potential. But we paid that little premium to get our men and it's paid off. If we think Elanga is our guy, just get it done man. We seem to be less willing to do that now. Goes back to my old PIF/PSR challenge.

All the fast moving deals were done before the PSR deadline came up and we ended up having to ditch promising players once reality bit.

The lesson in all of this is don't read twitter/X. The site is built to monetize and farm engagement. The easiest way to get engagement at this time of year is to drip feed conflicting transfer stories to rile both fanbases up.

Slowcastle United should be our name. Its quite annoying how shit we are at getting stuff done.

Starting to piss me off now. We’re like a club of two halves. On the pitch we’re mint - cup win and CL football again. On the business side we’re fucking shit. Slow as a fucking tortoise. Hunt for new CEO is up to 10 months or something. No new training ground or new stadium updates. No sponsorship deals for training kit.

Shouldn’t moan because, yes, I appreciate where we were before the takeover, but fucking hell, a little bit of speediness wouldn’t go amiss.

It’s pretty much 2-years since we signed someone with realistic aspirations to start right?

Not counting Kelly or Osula.  Or Vlach.

Yep, I’m discounting Hall being made permanent last summer. Barnes was the last one iirc.

I tell you what, some of our fans are really fucking me off this summer. Please stop being whining and twisting idiots, if at all possible.

Friday was all positive with progress on Elanga and Trafford probably happening. Weekend comes in and now we’re impatient again. Literally 2 days.

This is the modern world though. Everything has to happen NOW. You see it all the time with managers under pressure because they don’t get results immediately. We did it with Eddie.

It’s not just football either. Imagine a politician was trying to get elected and he/she said, ‘choose me and although it might take me two or three years to turn things around, it will be much better after that’. They’d get laughed out of town.
