For £55m my expectations aren't that low like. I think Elanga will prove useful in time but my mind does stray to players like Estevao at Chelsea, Semenyo at Bournemouth.

Hopefully Elanga can progress cause he seems like a good kid and fits the group.

Semenyo has required patience and good coaching to become the player he has today. He's been quite frustrating in previous seasons.

We don't have the luxury of giving a player who cost £55m as much time as Semenyo has had. Especially as our targets are completely different to Bournemouth.

No doubt the kid comes good but Christ today was bad.

So far… very early days. Long time to get up to speed.

The worst thing about his performances so far is that it’s his technical attributes look so bad. The touch and dribbling in particular.

Agree. But Howe wanted him regardless so you presume he's not obvlious to these weaknesses.

Has to play to his strengths and we have to play to his. I don't think he can beat three men on the dribble so he should probably stop that shit. Showed up by Murphy coming on and being patient and deliberate. Kid is so quick he thinks everything can be solved by going fast.

Aye but if we're talking about buying one of them last season I'd have still said Semenyo is the more attractive option. Obviously just opinion.

I'm not out on Elanga if that wasn't apparent in my original post. Do think he'll come good but does seem a bit limited at this current time.

Thought he was fine albeit no great shakes, not much support today. Not much to aim at in the box. A lot of effort, tracked back to defend. Not vintage but I guess the price tag weighs heavy in mind for some.

Murphy was way, way better when he came on. Shirt should be his for the bigger games for now.

Got to be more we can get out of him because he looked absolutely appalling today. Touch was rank and the one time it opened up with loads of space for him, he slowed down and let the lad block for a corner.

Bookmark this page for in a couple of months time. The N-O staple.

I think most expect him to do better with time. Currently he looks like a player that does a lot better when we are playing for counters than in games like these. That doesn't mean that I think he will struggle in gamestates like this all season. There's a difference between stating what you see right now and making a prediction on the future.

Nah that’s what I mean. I was in the ground at time so was making it short and sweet, I said the other day I think he will be effective for us long term.

But aye, he’s not technically gifted whatsoever.

I know he was bought to solve the long-standing "RW fret" problem but I always thought some of his best work at Forest was cutting in on his right from the left and shooting. [emoji38] Would be nice to see one day.

That's true, it's more the outright "he's shit" type posts that I'm referring to though.

He's so disappointing so far, i compared him to Adama Traore after the Leeds game and so far he's playing exactly like that, crazy fast but hardly any goals and assists to show for it. Murphy came on and instantly put two superb balls in.

It's funny because he's a player i thought would do really well for us and was excited when we signed him as we needed another RW, hopefully it's just a matter of him finding his feet and getting that first goal/assist to settle the nerves.

That’s the frustration. The size of the fee isn’t a help as well.

Hmmm .... a lot of revelling in how right people were about how "shit" he is.

No crying when anyone dares to mention it later on please.

Don’t see much revelling. Suspect everyone’s just frustrated that after needing a good right winger for years the one we signed has started poorly.

He does this all the time, pulls people up on opinions then throws his toys out the pram when people do it back to him.

Literally no one here is "revelling" that our £55m winger has not hit the ground running

Revelling definitely isn’t the word. Concerned, frustrated but still hopeful a more realistic description.

He is very much a pace merchant and obviously most effective when given space to run into. Technically lacking, his first touch in particular needs much work. But just being bloody fast combined with good movement/awareness and decent crossing will get him far.
