I'm retired mate. Have been since I turned 50. There's absolutely fuck all that can ruin my day*

*facelikeasmackedarsethough

Given I'm heading towards 40 with fuck all savings, you've just ruined my day saying you've been retired since 50.

Which is correct, as reported by many reputable sources.

Rooney's exact words when talking about this last week were, "We use to get pay cuts when we didn't get Champions League – you'd get 25% of your salary taken away if you didn't finish in the Champions League places - every player, the manager, players, coaches."

He must just be making it up for shits and giggles. Laurie Whitwell and Andy Mitten must just report it for shits and giggles.

I want you to think about this logically.....if, for 2 years running Manu don't get into the CL those players with that clause will be on just over half their salary.

Do you think the agents who get commissions on this sort of thing are soooooooo desperate for their clients to play for you they're happy to take such a hit to the pocket?

A 25% bonus for qualifying which is then (obvs) not given for failure to qualify is understandable. But compound losses?

Player on £100k (p/w)

Manu miss CL

Now on £75k

Manu miss out again the following year

Now on £56k

It's not the whole squad's fault for not qualifying. What if you're only a minor squad member? What if the club appoints managers that aren't good enough? What if the club splurges loads of cash on a load of duds? Suddenly a player who had no influence over that is on less than a Wolves reserve.

Given how money mad the agents are, I can't see it. It's all to financially orientated now.

I've said countless times before I don't know the ins and outs of the clause. I'm only going by what is reported by both our tier 1 journalists and ex-players. I'm sure it's a lot more nuanced than what we're led to believe.

What’s this sausage purpose now then?

Finishing everyone's left overs in the cafeteria?

Driving the youth players to training?

Organising the end of season meal?

Going to stick my neck out on the line at a time where everyone seems to think he's shit and say I'm pretty confident he'll come good. We've already seen this season Ramsey and Elanga make big improvements, and I don't think Wissa will be too far behind.

Really hope so.

He's cool as fuck like. For that reason I believe it'll happen.

Wouldn't be that surprised tbh. He doesn't look like he lacks self belief, just a combo of poor fitness and not being a good fit for our style at the moment. Both can change.

He wanted to come here so desperately and I am sure inside he is annoyed at himself he cant show his quality just we haven't really see it not getting a game or minutes at this point set backs or not is concerning.

He might be our no. 9 in terms of shirt number but could we maybe try him on the wing where he used to play as an option as Barnes scoring form at least has dipped and Murphy/Elanga are not exactly making a case to make their position their own. I appreciate its not where he signed up for but just to see minutes and some confidence building.
