Man United are clearly hoping the player publicly picks them publicly so they can chuck a couple of low ball offers at Leipzig.

Problem is Leipzig will just sell Simons and Openda to whoever and keep Šeško. They won’t weaken, similar to Brentford.

And to compound things, we look like dickheads going for a player who doesn't see us as his next step, again.

Why does that make us look like dickheads? As Howe keeps pointing out, we’ve reached a level now where not many players improve us and naturally those players will be coveted by clubs that will be able to offer what we can (CL, being somewhat competitive on multiple fronts) and then some (wages above and beyond what we can afford due to FFP). We’ll have to sell the project as best we can and hope that appeals to some. So far it’s enabled us to land some pretty damn good players.

Yeah I love our ambition. I just wish we moved quicker but a lot of that sandbagging is agents and selling clubs opposed to our team

This is basically the problem. If we can sort this and have a situation where it works like it did when Staveley and to a lesser extent Ashworth were doing it, then I think/hope the bottleneck is fixed.

The club being left in the position it's in this summer is shocking though, I get that the DoF leaving and CEO leaving is the problem but the lack of reaction and contingency plan put in place has damaged us.

We’re 4 injuries (Botman, Schar, Hall, Joelinton) away from our team being:

Pope: Trippier, Lascelles, Burn, Timo: Tonali, Miley, Bruno: Gordon, Isak, Elanga

There’s plenty of players that improves that. Need to get out of mindset that £70m is all that elevates this squad.

I don't disagree with aiming high.

In the hypothetical scenario that man u agitated the player and then low ball to the point Leipzig just flog another asset and keep hold, then to me we would look like dickheads.

Again, I don't disagree with the players we are aiming for and I'm well aware of our position amongst the elite, low.

What’s been our cheapest signing since the summer after PIF took over? Hall at £28m? (Can’t remember if Targett was an option to buy loan or we just signed him afterwards).

Osula was cheaper atleast. Mintes if you count him.

Burn or Targett I would assume. Pope maybe.

Edit: summer yes. Have to be Pope.

A whole lot of nothing.

Well not nothing... it says he's waiting for Man U as they're his first choice but both he and Leipzig need proof they can fund the deal.

We therefore need to stick to our guns on a deadline and move on if no answer

Which players that have signed for PL clubs this summer would you have taken here?

Not those that turned us down or we were never going to get

Again more needless chatter.

Leipzig have still not accepted any bid that will then let everyone know what the player is thinking.
