Signing someone who will score a goal this season would be a help. Peak Isak-Wilson combo managed 35 goals I think in a season (22/23); if these two can get to that (achievable I think) then I’d be delighted.

Prime Wilson is different thing. But last season we pretty much had Isak and useless Wilson and maybe Osula/Gordon. Sesko and Wissa offers a lot more.

No

Feels to me like we give Liverpool the deal of the century and take on all of the risk.

I want shot of Isak don't get me wrong but Liverpool couldn't give me enough to sell to them.

I meant in terms of getting a genuine top target through the door, after several rejections.

Yeah I see that point but personally I can't decouple the two transfers, they are linked.

Selling a sure thing for a gamble and pocketting peanuts is a loss for me but I understand otherwise will feel differently.

I’m with you on selling Isak to Liverpool. I personally wouldn’t consider it. Trying to separate the two deals because I just want some excitement again and to look forward to the new season.

I understand why some people insist on all the Isak money up front but surely half this season and half next season could potentially benefit us as much as them PSR wise??

When we receive the money isn't a factor psr wise.

Agreed re the cash.

Unless you came up with something ridiculous like £75m plus £75m in virtually guaranteed add-ons which trigger the next season, the next possible loophole to close.

On a similar note, still don't get why these loans with an obligation to buy the next are allowed. The substance is the same.

If this happens, I still think Wissa asap is important too. Ignore the price tag and it’s a 22 year old in a new country who will likely need time to settle. It’s why I think Man Utd would be a bad move for him given what happens to young attacking players signing there now.

Wissa is essential, we can’t go again with only one realistic striker option. Not to mention how young and unproven Sesko is.

I would also be perfectly happy with Isak being told to sort his head out and buckle down and get to work. We were supposed to be keeping Isak and getting a high-ceiling young player to replace Wilson. Spending 40 mil on Wissa means no resale value, whereas Isak + Sesko is 200m plus of bankable potential.

To give him some credit (you know I’m not usually a fan), he seems to be getting some good info this summer…

He’s the best Nufc journalist by a distance.
