Well then its down to speed of growth. Im happy with 30%.

When the takeover happened, I never asked for Man City or Chelsea. At that point id just about given up with PL footy completely.

I expected us having the richest owners in the world would lead to us being able to buy some of the best players. But the cartel did too, and fair play, they got the PL to draft some new rules so we couldn't do that.

If people thought we should've just gone after worse players the good news is they're all still available.

Right?

Its like every time Sunderland sign a player, I get that little pang of jealousy that they are getting a new player.

Then I have to remind myself that we could have signed all of them players but the reason we didnt is because we dont want them.

Im still confident that we will get at least one top level signing but we may well have to make do with a couple of lower level players too.

Weve got a very good starting 11. Time will tell if we end up with enough of a squad to cope.

Yep. It makes you wonder what's the point.

At this stage I'd be happy if they keep us up. So low have my expectations of the season become. 😆

The bad news is we've only got time to sign one of them, at the speed we work

Honestly, Manchester United brought out a branded tractor in 2018, we've not even sponsored our training kits yet, the gap is astronomical, we need someone with vision to maximise every single tiny little revenue stream.

Ed Woodward is currently unemployed. We could certainly do a lot worse.

He was shit on the football side of things, but we could certainly use someone like him to head up our commercial operations.

We literally tried to sign Delap Pedro Mbeumo Cunha Trafford etc..

We were allowed to sign players last summer hence the Guehi bids?

So you want us to sign only players from abroad is what your saying? Or what percentage from abroad/domestic? Be clear in your expectations.

No, we didnt have the funds to sign Guehi, hence why we didn't sign Guehi. This has been gone over multiple times. Weve not signed players because of PSR.

By all means judge them on this window and a harsh judgement it should be.

Worse is an assumption like, if you're of the opinion that the window cam be saved with good signings that means you think there are still good and available players out there.

I am absolutely of that opinion, and I was being glib. Clearly I mean 'players who - unlike those we've targeted and had robbed from us by the constraint-free cartel - provide less of a guarantee of being useful to us in a Champions League campaign whilst simultaneously assisting in our continued efforts to disrupt the established order at the top of the PL.'

Would Isak and Botman have been in the "worse players" category if we had instead went for the same targets as the sky six in 2022? Were Livra, Tonali and Hall also in the "worse players" category, as they were not the targets of sky six teams?

Im still not convinced on Elanga. Glad he signed but not the big RW I had been hoping for for 4 years. 99% of people hate the ramsdale signing and we won’t sign Scalvini.

No they don’t you mentalist. If you live on Twitter maybe yes. Otherwise people with brains can see the logic.

I’m not sure what last year has got to do with it, it was shit but we’ve all been educated the reasons why it was shit.

Yes you’re right, this window has got potential to be absolutely awful and it’s been pretty awful so far. But point is, let’s see where we are in a few weeks. No point winging about it now when it could still end up being decent that’s all I’m saying. If it’s not, then I’ll be first to hold my hands up and say they’ve failed.

I'm saying I can separate the football from the transfer strategy basically.

Tbf, we've got guys lined up who are highly rated, just like Ashworth and Eales were before that. We just shouldn't have let it drift for months once it became clear that Eales was not fit for work.

The strategy has been tragic. Does anybody here believe differently?

The outcome doesn't need to be tragic.

Also, let's hope a new CEO and DoF makes this the last window of this nonsense.

I mean you literally can't make a judgement on the transfer window until it closes (at the earliest!) It's like (to continue the metaphor) saying "what a terrible defeat this is!" when it's 30 minutes in.

"This looks to be a complete shitshow" ok though?

There's plenty of non-fiction going on in the transfer window, that is painfully obvious. Are people saying that people shouldn't moan about things like losing out on targets because we might sign Muniz who one day might score an important goal for us?

It's a forum.

Everyone can do what they want mate :)  It's a free country, supposedly anyways!

Personally, I find the constant negativity at the moment pretty absurd as I've commented on already recently so not going to bore people repeating it, and of course there's some reasons to be disappointed right now, I just don't see the need to flap so much about every single thing some random twat has posted from you know where.

I like to be conscious of what I post so as to not feed into constant negativity and add to it too much (not saying your specifically doing this, just commenting generally), I don't and have never bothered with social media in the main mainly for that reason, whereas here there's plenty good people and lots of good contributions, but right now it's fucking mental! :)

Isak and Botman signed when we had very different targets.

Livramento and Hall were prospects. We're chasing quality that's ready now, because that's what we need to keep up with the teams ahead of us whilst juggling a Champions League campaign. If anything we'll have actually learned that from the likes of Hall, not that he was ever a bad signing.

Tonali is in that tier of player where he probably gets pinched from us this summer, such is the strength of the cartel's control on the market right now.

I keep coming back to someone like Chalobah at Chelsea. Would just be a simple and smart move for someone we know is good and could still grow.

Again its not the Scalvini signing but we need to have practical alternatives at this stage.

It’s called exaggeration it’s used often and I was specifically referring to in here so fuck knows what Twitter has to do with it and if you look at the thread not many are happy about it you mentalist.

fwiw I’m one of few few that does like the ramsdale signing as Dubravka replacement not as a number 1 tho but it’s ultimately a poor signing when we had Trafford in our grasp for 2 years

I hear you but it's a pointless signing. Won't be cheap, won't improve limited upside.

It's a proper muddle of the road cartel enabling deal.

Don't get me wrong, he's a steady player but what are we looking to achieve here?
