I really don’t mind missing out on him. He’s not some mega talent and his an agent driven player. Just so many warning signs and has a classic Man Utd transfer “wE bReAk PlAyErS” all about him. No you didn’t break him, he’s just average in a poor side so is made to look even worse as his bottom floor can be very low.

The future does not depend on this window absolutely but if things don't change we will be also rans at best. It's why I've been banging on about the revenue gap as that is the thing holding us back, we can't compete and we will not be able to compete on a consistent basis until we actually do something about it. The concerning aspect is we don't appear to be doing anything. 

 

This is one aspect where we are failing other issues exist as well.

It doesn't always go to plan, but I wouldn't expect it to always not go to plan.

 

Have to say I disagree though, there are plenty of 'kicking on' transfer windows in our history that have laid the groundwork for failure. We really don't want this to be one of them, which at the moment it's looking like.

It has but the issue is that actually doesn't matter. The only thing worth measuring is the gap to the cartel club and it isn't really closing. 

 

That's if you believe the chairman (which is entirely up to you ) if you don't and you don't mind that's it's all good.

Honestly, Manchester United brought out a branded tractor in 2018, we've not even sponsored our training kits yet, the gap is astronomical, we need someone with vision to maximise every single tiny little revenue stream.

Howay man, the last 3 years hasn’t gone to plan? We’ve had an absolutely fantastic ride. Yes, this window has been a pile of shit so far but you’re saying even good signings wouldn’t save it?? The window is judged when it closes not with 4 weeks to go. A lot can/will happen.

Those sort of things will help but they will barely make a dent in reality. We really need City to win their case with the PL and then use APT sponsorships to close the gap in a hurry. Assuming we want to, but we won't know that until the opportunity is there.

Take away the Isak/Wissa/Sesko/Pedro/Delap carry on, which while exhaustive is pretty much all the same calamitous situation.

 

Had our transfer looked like: Elanga, Ramsale, Scalvini and let's say a young CM to develop... We'd have likely said that weve just been unlucky on the striker hunt.

 

Every day we keep hearing about forward players but are they blinded to it? Or are they confident they can find a CB late on? Its weird.

 

If we are struggling with forward players, leave yourself some financial wriggle room and come back to it. Go and sort the rest of the squad first.

 

We cannot go into the season with Burn and Schar. We could go into the season with Isak and Osula.

You're talking about two different things.

 

We didn't succeed last season because of last summer's transfer window did we? We succeeded in spite of it. You can separate the two in your mind.

 

Good signings could save it theoretically. I'm saying at the moment  it's in danger of being a Bowyer/Anita window on steroids.

Well then its down to speed of growth. Im happy with 30%. 

 

When the takeover happened, I never asked for Man City or Chelsea. At that point id just about given up with PL footy completely.

I’m not sure what last year has got to do with it, it was shit but we’ve all been educated the reasons why it was shit. 

 

Yes you’re right, this window has got potential to be absolutely awful and it’s been pretty awful so far. But point is, let’s see where we are in a few weeks. No point winging about it now when it could still end up being decent that’s all I’m saying. If it’s not, then I’ll be first to hold my hands up and say they’ve failed.

Im still not convinced on Elanga. Glad he signed but not the big RW I had been hoping for for 4 years. 99% of people hate the ramsdale signing and we won’t sign Scalvini.
