Don't think Kelleher would have moved to be 2nd choice.

Aye, explicitly wanted to go somewhere as the #1 guaranteed longterm starter. If Ramsdale is happy to come here and be a rotation option for a year I don't mind this bit of business, assuming we're redirecting the funds we had earmarked for Trafford to an area of greater need.

People forget Kelleher had a mare against us in the league.  Don’t cover himself in the league cup final either.

Not big on Kelleher personally.

Basically, the forum is always unconvinced my premier league players unless they always play a blinder against us.

but I’ve seen a fair bit of Kelleher in other matches and he is better than Ramsdale and Dubravka.

maybe Ramsdale can be Howe’d into something let’s hope so.

He is definitely better than Dubravka who will be 37 before the season is out.

Once Trafford was out it was mooted we just wouldn't bother with a keeper. Personally I'd rather Ramsdale in on the right deal than no keeper signing at all. I think he was a good player for Arsenal personally - just Raya was better.

The main thing that's always bothered me with Ramsdale, even since his Arsenal days is his positioning, particularly at the near post. Trafford has a similar issue because they're both more interested in claiming any potential delivery.

This. Not really one to get excited about. Improvement on Pope in some areas, but not others. Not sure he is better overall.

I don’t think he is shit or anything. Although I’m sure I have called him that at some point  but not sure him signing is going to change much.

I think he’s coming in for Dubs rather than Pope anyway. Pope will be assumed first choice still.

Its true.

Thats my main positive take. Hey man, we’ve agreed a fee and terms quickly. I’ve been meaning about that all morning and this comes along. I guess I have to give credit.

Agree. I think Kelleher will be found to be lightweight this season. I’m pleased we didn’t get him.

You think? I don’t see anything in it at all. Significant is a big call from you

Three years ago he played every game for Arsenal when they finished second. He’s been in and about the England squad near enough as much as Pope has.

He’s definitely better than Dubravka like.

I’d say he’s kind of suffered, a bit in the same way David James did, from a combination of some mistakes at a high profile club and being a bit of an oddball.

And he wanted to be first choice. Not happening here

Agreed, and this sounds like the right sort of deal. Ramsdale has a chance to demonstrate that he's the successor to Pope and then that transfer is already in the building this time next year. If he's not up to scratch, it's 'thanks for holding the fort' and back to the transfer market we go.

If reports were to be believed, Pope was always likely to stay first choice so if people have got their knickers in a twist about there being new No1 in the side, I don't think that was ever on the cards.

Get this done (and hopefully Dubs/Odysseas out) and it's job done in terms of keepers this summer. Really not worth the angst.

Had my say on him. Hope he comes good but this summer from what I expected to what it’s becoming is miles apart

the centre half signing needs to be a fuckin belter.

Very good with ball at his feet. Calm under pressure there. Those balls out to Gordon/Elanga will be sweet.

Loads of times when he’s been charged down or has let the ball roll under his feet

Given he left Arsenal to play, im assuming he will be expecting to at the worst be fighting for the number 1 shirt.

Obviously he's not as bad as the initial reaction but I'm not sure, it feels easy and unambitious.

It’s funny though. For the first couple years people fought against the idea Howe had an English/PL bias. While o think there’s some other reasons for that - a need for short term results. The evidence is overwhelming now.

It takes a lot for us to go for a foreign player init?  Must be part of the reason we’ve been so successful with them. They have to tick so many boxes for Eddie.
