The issue wasn't Mitchell saying we could improve our scouting, it was him saying our current system wasn't fit for purpose in a blatant dig at the people at the club, when almost every player we'd signed had increased in value. We could have sold half of our squad and gotten the same kind of return you'd get at Brighton, only we were actually competing in the Champions League too.

I'm sure Howe would love an improved scouting network. I just don't think he wants a bunch of PSR flips, he wants players who fit his criteria who are here for the team. I think that's where they disagree.

We can't win the league with a bunch of PSR flips anyway. That strategy is for clubs who just want to stay mediocre.

I dont rate him highly ad looks more a talented Osula but still way below imo Joao Pedro, Ekitike level, sadly his price will be very similar. to get this category as our main striker would be odd and  quite expensive as Wolves now will negotiate the shit out of us for him this late.

sadly we are in a desperate situation and this has  price too.

I think 10/15 goals max from him is what we can expect. he is 26 in February, and is  type of striker by the look if it who can deliver 10/15 goals if he play 33/35 games is a league season. but if you cut number of games, then its 8/12 goals only. very tall at least so can be an aerial threat which is not bad.

but if its him for 60m or Gordon upfront most games, then  guess better to spend it.

For the stats nonces, his last season xg performance wise is an outlier. Fair chance its a purple patch.

I might be being dumb here, but doesn't that say that last season wasn't an outlier, given he had a higher set of XG the season before for Celta, meaning he's consistently getting into goal-scoring positions. The Celta season he slightly underperformed his xG, last season he slightly overperformed, but the difference is negligible for both.

Last season he out performed his xg previously he never did.

Nah, this chap isn't going to ever worth what we pay for him. Nobody is paying this much for this skillset/age profile.

Might be able to break even on an account basis. Actually probably not.

I did say in a couple of years if he's banging the goals in. A 27yr old striker who is scoring consistently in the Premier should still fetch a decent price. Not £60m obviously but that's because he'd be 2 years older, and we'd have had the benefit for those two years.

Feels like for either JSL or Wissa we are going to have to overpay. In an ideal world we shouldn't have found ourselves in this position and there's lessons to learn but here we are.

Once we have overpaid though it makes getting the other one (if we still want to) easier as we are negotiating from a better position.

Seen the replies below he's also thinking the sporting director now in doubt 🤣

Somebody ask him if he still expects the CEO to be in place before the season starts.

His stats are good but not evidence to dismiss it as a hot streak. You cannot say that from slight xG overperformance.

If anyone Cunha looked like a hot streak, whacking em in from long distance, but everyone is convinced Cunha is quality, again based on one season.

He may prove to be brilliant, and was at CWC, but the biggest stats red flag was Pedro, who mainly scored pens.

xG is handy but the scouts will be looking at endless amounts of video to see how he takes position, shot choice, how clean he strikes it and his posture ect.

Bruno is an obvious example, watch tape of him and it's clear, regardless of any stats, that he cannot properly strike a ball because he always tries to bend it.

How can we max expect 10/15 goals when he got 14 non-penalty goals in his first PL season for an inferior team?

Normally I’d agree we’ll be doing a lot of due diligence but do we not think we’re past the strikers that we’ve carefully tracked for years now?

Could be just looking at any striker that can be reasonably effective and we can maybe get.
