Any other favourite memories: Smashing Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate in the semi with two of the best performances I have ever seen from any Newcastle side.

Favourite Match: Has to be the final really, but since I donated my ticket to my Dad for that game I’ll say Palace 5-0. It just felt like we were unstoppable at that point. Shoutout to Leverkusen, what a few nights that was. 
 

Favourite Goal: Burn in the final (Miley in Germany for attended goal)

 

Favourite Moment: Full time whistle in the final, but I absolutely loved the scenes on the Town Moor and parade. 

 

Favourite Player: Bruno G. Warrior and legend. 

 

Any other favourite memories: The performance against Liverpool with 10 men. Seeing the lads grab the ball when equalising, even with 10 men they wanted to push and win. It probably cost us the game in the end but was probably the most proud I’ve ever been of any Newcastle side in my years following.

/ Tricky to separate a variety: Miley vs Bromley, Gordon vs Arsenal (h), Murphy vs Palace, Barnes' second vs Man Utd, either of Barnes' vs Benfica, Miley vs Fulham.

 

Favourite Moment:

/ Seeing the engraving being applied to the trophy 

 

/ Standing on my own on the terrace at Rosie's, a couple hours after FT of the final, nattering to two older gents about the majesty of what was occurring 

 

/ Won't name names but some of the most emotional embraces with fellow forumers in the moments after that whistle went

Favourite Goal: Burn in Cup Final. Bruno wrapping game up against Chelsea. Goals to beat Benfica.

Favourite Moment: Embrace with friends at full time whistle on Cup Final

Favourite Player: Bruno! (Love his guts)

Any other favourite memories: Crazy away trips with friends to Southampton and Brussels. Take my son to see the bus parade.

 

What a year! Just highlights that I need to enjoy the journey more and not get too deflated and moan when we lose a game or two.

Best year supporting the club ever and is likely never to be bettered to be fair. Given it was so many peoples first proper trophy and the unreal emotion surrounding it. I don’t think anything else will compare, even if it was a bigger cup. 
 

Mad how quickly some forget.

 

Everything about the final was perfect, as the good Dr posted the semi finals were arguably as good from a performance POV. Away game note perfect sit back and pounce, home game just masterful tactics and execution of them.

 

Other favourite memories would have to be Tonali v Chelsea, the sense of relief, and the all round disembowelment of Man Utd. Lovely stuff.

Favourite Match: Cup final, 2nd leg semi final against Arsenal, 4-1 v Man United

 

Favourite Goal: Dan Burn in the final, Tonali v Brentford, Woltemade v Everton

 

Favourite Moment: FT whistle at the final. Struggling to think of others tbh.  

 

Favourite Player: It was the rat until the summer. Now it’s between Bruno and Hall.

 

Any other favourite memories: the whole weekend down in London for the final. Feels like yesterday, time’s absolutely flown.

all about the cup final for me 

 

there was so much doom and gloom here leading up to it, myself included - fully expected to lose and just wanted it to be done with 

 

especially when it became apparent we'd be without our first choice left side in Hall and Gordon, both of whom had been playing really well together 

 

and with our patchy form both legs

of the semi final masterclass against Arsenal seemed like a distant memory

 

Liverpool were huge favourites going into it 

 

we battered them and should've won by more

 

nothing will ever beat that

Saw Newcastle win a cup with my dad (7th time lucky going to Wembley for him) and got to spend a few days in Marseille to see us play away in the Champions League with him

 

Two things on the bucket list we didn't think we'd see

Any other favourite memories: Eddie meeting the old lady fan. Amazing feeling of connection with the club with stuff like that.

Any other favourite memories: Couldn’t get a ticket for the final, but the alternative turned out to be wild. Went to Berlin, got into Berghain, left there Sunday afternoon to watch match with Fender & band, all of us going mental during match, Fender’s gig was absolutely bouncing with loads of Geordies, went back to Berghain after gig, went from Berlin to Amsterdam, another Fender gig and mooched with Shearer backstage. The most epic 3 days of my entire life.

Watched the final, sober, in my front room. Sank onto my knees and bowed my head for what seemed an eternity to gather myself at the final whistle. Don't think the feeling could be repeated but here's hoping.

Favourite Goal: BDB’s match winning goal in cup final

Any other favourite memories: Howe’s fist pump at the end of the West Ham match prior to the cup final (aligned with watching Liverpool lose on pens to PSG the next night) transformed my pre-final weeks thoughts from ‘this is going to be extremely difficult’, to ‘we’re winning’.

Favourite Moment: The second goal in the final, after that I just knew. Honourable mentions to the final whistle and Tonali tying his shoelace.

Favourite Player: Burn

Any other favourite memories: Burn's goal against Bilbao, the CL music coming on after that atrocity against Everton on the last day. EDIT: Actually, the entire experience and the atmosphere in Wembley, it was bouncing all the way through and not through defiance or hope, but expectation and the feeling we belonged there and would win.

1. I have to be honest and say the 2nd goal in the final. I don't watch it now, but in the moment and up until the summer it was magic.

2. The first in the final.

3. Tonali vs Man United.

 

Favourite Moment: 

 

Very hard to pinpoint individual moments from the final because it's basically the final and then the week after it where I just bathed in it all.

 

If I had to pick out the bits where I peaked hard though:

 

1. 

Then that feeling of my heart overflowing and just bursting into tears.  I hadn't even thought about this happening. Seeing it was real and it had actually happened was just utterly surreal. I've said it before, but I just remember being like this lad for the entire thing.

Favourite Player: Bruno. We all have these parasocial relationships with footballers and I think as you get older you shy away from it more and more because of how one-sided it is, but Bruno bucks that trend imo. Not only has he had a great year, but he's epitomised everything you could ask for from a Newcastle captain.

 

Any other favourite memories:

The Tonali Willock chest bump.

Tonali tying his laces.

Qualifying for the Champions League. Howe choking up saying that he hopes he made his mam proud.

That incredible run of wins we went on where you went into matches incredibly confident. 

 

The best year I've had supporting Newcastle, easily.

Favourite Moment: Tonali taking ages to tie his laces in the final, The Willock & Tonali Chest bump when keeping it in the corner, everything about that day. 

 

Favourite Player: Dan Burn - living every Geordie's dream. 

 

Any other favourite memories: Beating Man U 4-1, qualifying and being back in the champions league,  mackems rolling out the welcome mat for our fans in the FA cup, Jacob Murphy becoming a quality player. Seeing my club again for the first time in person since giving up my season ticket when Rafa left (even if we did lose, play shite and I had to sit in the wrong end)

Having a tear down the cheek  walking down the seafront in Whitley on the Monday listening to Pod on the Tyne is an underrated highlight of this genre for me. When it finally started to sink in.

 

Thankfully no real men were there to kick the shit out of me for hating England.
