Finally some sense and a bit of optimism. Respectfully, we're playing the team in 2nd from the Azerbaijan league (equivalent to champo strength maybe?) over two legs.

Not in love with all the doubt expressed so far like, this isn't Man City away. [emoji38]

There's a bit of a difference from saying we are favourites to win to comparing them to a League One team like some posters have been doing, when they have taken points off Chelsea and Benfica.

In the first game of the league phase they won 3-2 away to Benfica after going behind 2-0. In the three away games after that they lost by a combined 11-1 to Bilbao, Napoli, and Liverpool.

In the four home games they W2, D1, L1 with a 9-8 aggregate score.

Copenhagen is the only game of the 8 they didn’t concede 2+ goals.

There’s probably a tangible impact to the travel that makes this trickier than it otherwise would be, but I think we’ll score at least 6 across the two legs.

It feels a bit like an fa cup tie away to a championship team. Yes you feel you "should" win, but there is always an element of risk if there is travel fatigue, players don't apply themselves properly or give enough respect to opponents etc.

Off the back of the last two away performances then I expect we will get a good result tonight. Also think based on the comments that Eddie will go as strong a line up as possible and attempt to get the tie over and done with this evening.

But also wouldn't be shocked if it was a tricky game and we only managed a draw. A loss would be a real upset and a very disappointing result but I feel confident we will do the job.

That implies you think it’s reasonably likely we could lose?

Well if we have a stinker that we're capable of we could end up a 0-1.So I'm just being ultra cautious

Their home record isn't bad in Europe this year so will definitely not be straight forward

Suspect some of our fans saw Liverpool tonked them at home so assume we'll beat them comfortably too

Looking at their previous few years' European campaigns, it seems a hell of an achievement for them to have progressed this far in the CL. They finished rock bottom of the monster table in last season's Europa League, though the year prior to that they were narrowly defeated in the Last 16 to Leverkusen.

Difficult to get a handle on what sort of threat they're going to pose but for them to take points off Chelsea should at least certify that they're not total mugs.

The Euro pundits seem to think they are a decent side at home and that the Liverpool result is misleading (already qualified and somewhat overawed).  I would think if we underestimate them, we might struggle.

They beat Copenhagen 2-0, Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 and drew 2-2 with Chelsea at home. Beat Benfica away 3-2. So they can’t be terrible. I’d take a draw but obviously would prefer another Union St-Gilloise result/performance (who also had some decent results aside from our 4-0 annihilation).

Man this is so great, I love that we're playing in a Champions League knockout game later. This is what it's all about! Just imagine this 4 years ago. I hope this never gets boring.
