Agree he's an upgrade/variation of Big Joe. We forget that Jo plays every game and is playing fucked most the time, Cunha could arguable play instead of Isak, Gordon, Murphy, Big Joe, allowing all of those players to rotate in and out to provide more rest. I could even see Big Joe playing on the wings and Cunha in a Left Attacking Midfield role at times depending on fitness of others and the opposition. Versatility and rotation being key for Eddie! Lot's of games to play IF we get ECL and there's no doubt he adds that star factor, he's also a stubborn so and so who fits the team ID.

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to Tour Singapore
Groundhog63 replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
Went to Singapore with the 1st MrsG. Did Raffles, Sentosa etc etc. Loved it. Mind this was circa 1992 😂 -
I got offered a ticket for this. But I also can’t go due to a family do. Long old trip there and back on a Sunday. So I’d want to leave early. Despite all the years home and away. I think I’ve only seen us live against these cunts in the League cup final. Pub it is. Although I’m down south, so plastic Mancs everywhere. They’ve been surprisingly low in numbers this season, mind….. Hopefully Micky Quinn is in the boozer to get stuck into all the Man U fans
-
Fernandes was 19/20 season. Could argue Dalot has been ok, but not stellar, and he joined 18/19 season. Mata in 13/14? No arguments on Van Persie in 12/13. Zlatan came in and did a job round about the mid 2010s.
-
I'm not a fan of the place, mainly due to the horrific climate. The only way I can get through a spell there is to drink heavily and wish for a fresh North Easterly. And there's the other reason I don't like it - price of booze 🙄
-
I've made a few comments over the years that he's well below the level we should have been looking at, even pre-takeover. Anyway, Gottlob is a fan
-
Who were their last 3 quality signings? One of them will be Fernandes and he was signed 5 years ago. Who and when were the other two?
-
Also completely ignores their recent transfer record which has been patchy to say the least. The way PSR has tilted the field in the favour of clubs like them means they will make a couple of expensive signings for sure. That they'll be "quality" of that I'm far less sure. Our transfer record since the takeover has to be one of if not the best in the Premier League. So I'd favour us to buy the players we need to improve over them.

Morning 😎 Starts at 12.30, though I'd be surprised if anyone picked Man City v Palace 🤔😉 Good luck. And by "good luck" I mean "hope it gans to rat shit and we get to rollover" 😂😂😂

Newcastle United vs. Manchester United: 13/04/25 @ 16:30 (Sky Sports)

Possibly a little like the Brighton game in the CL run in last time where there is an appreciation that they could be a dangerous team but they end up making some big changes in personnel. If we are locked in an play at our best we should be good. - Today
-
They’ll be allowed to blow £200m+ again with no punishment.
-
Refuse to watch this if Ameobi is in it. Ashley apologist.

Yeah, they’re clearly improving under Amorim but being held back by some of the pure shit they’ve got. I still think we’ll win. We’ve probably got to.
-
Funnier than I expected. Still think they should be spending their time practicing football instead of risking injury in the kitchen.
-
The fact that he's very unlikable means people vastly underrate him. Bruno Fernandes not getting into our starting mid ffs

The game against us is relatively meaningless for them. A loss or a win may see them lose or gain a place or two at the end of the season, and 3-6 million quid (or whatever the money per placing is). However, failure to progress on Thursday, will see them miss out on relative fortune, no European football, a pretty big impact on their PSR moving forward, a major impact on the number of signings, and not being able to sign the level of quality in players they need. I maybe wrong, but, I would be gobsmacked if the likes of Fernandez (he is the key to their play) starts on Sunday. Maybe Garnacho also, with Mount playing in his place. I think the likes of Shaw, Mainoo, Eriksen and Lindlehof will probably start also. I can't see their manager risking an injury to his key first team players, when there is so much on the line. What I have seen their support are generally wanting this also. Time will tell though -
Just another attempt to derail our season.

I get Anelka vibes from the lad tbh

Yeah, absolute dick move. An awful feeling until I got the archive.

The Europeometerâ„¢ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
gazza ladra replied to Rich's topic in Football
That's without Haaland for most of those games as well. Not happening. -
Again, and I can’t highlight this enough, he walks more than any other player in the league. Yes he’s quality with the ball and when things are going well but he’d a massive worry off the ball and if not. Not too mention unless we’re changing formation he’s not an improvement on the first XI. Albeit as a 10 in Joelintonless 4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1 it’d be very interesting to see how it worked albeit you’d be stifling the other two somewhat. And this is someone who has always thought Howe has never really fancied Big Joe.
-
To be clear, I think Cunha is a quality player but I just don't see how he fits into our system. If your looking to strengthen the ring wing it feels like a round leg in a square hole to me, we won't see the best out of him in that role imo. So that leaves us with the question of are we changing system and if we are the right wing problem isn't fixed and your dropping either Joelinton (one of our highest paid players btw) or Gordon (ditto).

Wins - Man Utd, Ipswich, Everton Draws - Palace, Chelsea, Brighton Defeats - Villa, Arsenal That's 65 points, which seems about 50/50 for fifth place.
