  1. Theres not a hope in hell Nolan will be dropped. Smith possibly. I'd be chuffed with a point. If we go with an unchanged team we will get beat. Just with the addition of a strong athletic midfielder and an attacking midfielder with good quality we could be a totally different team.
  2. He's really surprised me. He's easily one of the most likeable managers we've had in the past 20 years and he's done a brilliant job so far. With Keegan and Sir Bobby up for the great jobs they done for this football club, I'd have Hughton a long way below them but a massive distance ahead of anyone else from the past 20 years. Of course he's totally unproven at this level and he's got a lot to prove, the job he's done so far has been outstanding. I'm not saying he's a better manager than all of the other managers, but the job he's done and the way he's went about it has been massively admirable. Its fucking great seeing a Newcastle team with such a great team spirit and you can just see that they love each other and are prepared to fight for each other. Its just great to have a manager who we can relate to and is level headed. Top man.
  3. The 4-3 win at Leeds a few days after the Arsenal win match was special. My first away match and it looked like we were done for at 3-1 down but what a comeback. Made it more spicy as well because whoever won would be top of the league at full time. What a day.
  4. 5-0 against Manure 4-3 Barcelona 4-1 mackems Shearers goal against Portsmouth KK's return in 2008. We know how it ended but the feeling on that night when he came back out of nowhere was fucking unreal and the town was absolutely buzzing.
  5. Can't see us bringing in another midfielder now unless Ben Arfa somehow ends up here. Nolan, Barton, Guthrie, Smith and the new lad. For a start I don't think he would want that amount of central midfielders and I don't think Ashley would want to sanction it because that would basically mean we would have 6 centre midfielders with one of them struggling to even make the matchday squad. We do really need one still though. Another striker is essential as well.
  6. Not played a game for England since we signed him. He did I think. I seem to remember him starting one game up front alongside Owen (the last time I remember him actually playing for England or up front) and he wore the number 9 shirt I think it was when he had just signed mind. Can't remember who it was against.
  7. I am chuffed for him he's really living the dream. Its mad thinking back a couple of year ago though when he came on the odd time he never really looked like even offering anything like he's showing now. He didn't show many glimpses in the odd cameo he had. I always thought he might have something a bit different to offer with his height but most people would have said he wouldn't make it before last season. I remember him coming on in one game in particular and he got a huge amount of stick on here afterwards. I think it was against Man City at home. I was surprised with the people who were calling him shit at the start of last season though, he impressed me despite his lack of goals. He has came on massively now though and it looks like we might have a genuine quality Premiership striker in the making if he keeps on improving. Its actually a really nice surprise that we might have actually managed to bring a good quality striker through the ranks for the first time in god knows how many years. Lets hope he keeps improving and doesn't start believing the hype yet because the papers I have read the last couple of days are really talking him up now like and the new number 9 superstar of tyneside.
  8. If he's gone to Cardiff because he loves the club and wants to help them get promoted then I admire that. He has had to drop down to a division which he is far too good for but if its only for a year and he helps take them up then he will go down a legend there. I don't get how some Newcastle fans can't relate to stuff like this a bit considering Shearer gave us all of them years when he could easily have left us. For all of the great football he's played, he only has a couple of runners up medals and a shit Scottish Cup winners medal. At the minute without being biased I would image the part of his career he has enjoyed the most was his time at Newcastle in them first few years under Sir Bobby. He played some good football at Blackburn and West Ham and won a big move to Liverpool but was only a bit part player. If this move works out right its a genuine opportunity for him to achieve something which he could be proud of. It could also go terribly wrong though. Just putting a different perspective on it.
  9. We've got a lot bigger problems than Harper right now. I actually think Krul will be our first choice by 11/12 at the latest like, but you can get away with having a decent keeper if you have a decent team in front of him. Smith and Nolan cannot play in the middle together this season or we will be raped each time.
  10. Out of that team I think Williamson, Colo, Enrique, Routeledge, Barton and Carroll will be fine this season. Its the other players that worry me. Jonas will be very handy for us against the lesser teams but I don't think he is much of an asset to us away from home against decent opposition. WIth our current team though we have no option but to play him.
  11. Exactly the type of player I have envisaged in my head that we desperately need. (as well as a creative midfielder). Why? Because he's big, black, massive and could be a monster. Seriously though, without ever seeing him play, if we managed to bring in a big athletic central midfielder with legs and a creative midfielder I would be seriously confident about staying up. Not getting excited or carried away without ever seeing him play or even knowing if its true or bollocks.
  12. Matt Derbyshire linked with a loan to Birmingham. Surely he'd be a good and realistic target for us.
  13. Happy birthday to a true legend. Got so many amazing memories watching him play for us and England. A few personal highlights have to be the 5-0 against Manure, hat-trick against Leicester in the 4-3 win, his goals in the Sheffield United and Spurs FA Cup semi-finals, his double against Inter Milan at the San Siro, hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen, his wonder strikes against Aston Villa, Everton and Chelsea all at SJP, winding that cunt Roy Keane up in our 4-3 win against Manure, his penalty against the mackems in his last ever match for us, that amazing night against Celtic for his testimonial which I will never forget, and of course the record breaking goal against Portsmouth. Thats of the top of my head. The things I miss most of all other than looking at him when I was wondering where a goal was gonna come from when we were struggling, is THAT celebration and a simple thing like when he came back to defend a corner and the ball was like a magnet to his head. I still stand by what I've always said, I don't care who scores for Newcastle, but every time Shearer scored it felt that little bit better. A bit more satisfying.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Does he actually play off the strikers or is he more of a left winger?
  15. From what I've seen of Best Id rather actually have Ranger, Xisco or Harewood. Thats not saying anything about the quality of them players mind.
  16. Why? Best is absolutely shite and it looked like we weren't going to sign another striker. Now we are left with 4 strikers, one of who is a 18/19 year old not ready yet and that might just be the thing which makes us go for a new striker. If we replace Best with better then it would be a blessing.
  17. I think we'll definitely replace him. Hughton clearly doesn't fancy Ranger yet. If we're talking of signing any big name players though then I would think Robbie Keane is a lot more likely than Bellamy. He's Irish, got a good attitude and he's probably on less than Bellamy.
  18. How would we get Bellamy though? Theres quite a few stumbling blocks. His age, transfer or loan fee and his big wages being the main ones. I don't see how we would overcome them with Ashley like. Also, something tells me Hughton wouldn't quite fancy having someone like Bellamy around the place. I hope I'm totally wrong though, a fit Bellamy would keep us up.
  19. Just putting a posistive spin on it, as well as Hughton probably needing a new striker now, it might put a bit more urgency to get this Arfa deal done one way or another so we can move on.

    Leon Best

Without trying to sound a cunt, this could be a blessing
  21. S.Taylor - Campbell - Colo - Enrique The question should have been who should partner Colo.
