Good on them. NUFC used to (back in the day) do quite a lot for developmentally disabled children. My grandfather was the headmaster at the Percy-Headley school and there was a good relationship there. No idea what it's like now. I am guessing it's bad, but that is just because Mike Ashley is a dick.
  2. Scoring for fun in the Ecuadorian top flight, but it is the Ecuadorian top flight. Flamed out in MLS on loan a few seasons back. Top scorer in the Copa Sudamericana two years running, 6 goals in 12 for Ecuador including 2 at the Copa America last summer. About as random a transfer rumor as it gets. I vaguely remember him at Chivas USA (LA) and doing poorly but to be fair... 1. Chivas were an incredibly bad team 2. As much as we criticize the MLS, just about any MLS team could beat NUFC at the moment. NUFC lost to the Timbers reserves while basically fielding a full strength team and only eeked by the USL team the Republic on an OG.

We are terrible at all levels. On a side note: how did the ref not require a different kit for Derby? Both teams in black and white but in different parts of the kit. Seemed a bit too similar
  4. Merry Christmas gentlemen!
  5. This is a nailed on loss after the past two matches. No fucking chance we will get anything from this. 0-2 Villa.

I am surprised it took this long TBH. I said earlier in this thread or the USA thread that Caleb Porter is the ONLY American coach I would want anywhere near NUFC. Well done Portland.
  7. Me too. 3 at most. Realistically 1 point.

Loved today's. Back on form after a mediocre previous couple.

You sound like you live in Portland.

    MLS

I totally agree. And this is coming from someone who sometimes (very few... honest) goes to their games. I feel like I should be more supportive, but honestly they just piss me off and have done for years. I am a self-hating miserable bastard obviously. I bemoan NUFC's failure and take no joy in LA's victories... the worst of both worlds.

I don't know why I am even watching this. It will be a NYRB vs Timbers Final with Timbers winning.
  12. USA has never had a proper striker (other than BMcB whom I actually like).
  13. I don't think he'll get fired, but...pretty much everything since the WC has been bad. Eventually something has to happen. Yep I agree I think Jurgen is the best we can hope for really. All of his conflict with development and the colleges... I think he is right. I am however irritated that there are not more latino players and better opportunities and set ups that could help increase the numbers - he needs to do more in this area. This is a long standing problem obviously.
  14. I don't care how bad they have been playing or how much pressure Jurgen is in... I really want a win tonight. Tough shit though. This has a deep loss written all over it. Mexico 4 USA 1 is my prediction.

I can say without hyperbole or malice (I am not that big on the makem hating thing) that you will regret this appointment. I loathed him while he was here. Since KK I would put him only above Souness and JFK as the worst manager we have had (yes, worse than Pardew). The football we played under him was eye-stabbingly boring and we usually lost anyway. He also has zero class and an immense ego. A horrible person.
  16. I am pig sick with envy that Liverpool have Klopp. I would have given my eye teeth to have him at Newcastle.
  17. this will be an odd game. Jose has a terrible record at SJP... Ghost of SBR his mentor or something. Jose will have done his homework (as always) and will have Chelsea in a formation attacking narrow through the middle and comeout swinging by pressing high. They would do better on the counter however, but they won't play it that way. I don't think Chelsea will do amazingly well, but I do think they'll win as long as they don't concede early. I am watching this. And will try not to care about losing yet again.
  18. I disagree. When he is running down the flanks and has no options he often tries to cannon the ball off of an opposing player for a corner or throw in. It worked most of the time for him yesterday.

    Steve McClaren

I am still in disbelief that McClaren is our manager. I don't feel strongly one way or the other but it seems unreal somehow... I blame Ashley. I don't believe the WHam game is a must win. I am willing to give him time. The last former England manager we had took a while to get things going (two years of 11th place). It eventually worked out.

    Steve McClaren

Obertan is faster than both and probably shows that in practice doing simple actions. In games however...
  21. Totally agree ... and I think it is worse due to the current political environment of England.
  22. Pffffff... 4:45am for me. Also getting up for it just like the Man U game.
