Without going back and re-watching match of the day from last season I'd guess that Southampton sat back a lot more than we do so the last 2 metrics will naturally be lower for Ramsdale, a better comparison might be when he played for Arsenal. I doubt the players are in 8-6 every day training. If its tactics and not fitness type training then I'm sure time could be found for a few weeks Everyone has points in their career where a few extra hours are needed to solve a problem

Where I see Howe's big challenge is that the house that Howe built has peaked and he needs to rebuild. Someone mentioned earlier that it is a damn sight harder to get into this team than it is to get out, and that's true. Howe has a natural comfort blanket of Pope, Schar, Burn, Bruno, Big Joe, Tonali, Gordon and of these there is a strong argument that only Tonali is going to improve, the rest will see a natural decline at different rates - it has already started in some. Trips basically took himself out of the team last year, Murphy played himself into it but is always an enigma. The only reason we changed up front is because it was forced upon us. You can also look at the way Pope came back in last season, the shirt should have been Dubs and he did nothing to warrant being benched. Of course these are the guys who have got us Champs League twice and won a cup, there is no rewriting history and down playing their achievements but other than Joe and Murph they are all Howe buys and it must be damn hard to now look at them and decide how and when they will be replaced. Its the challenge he has to start getting right though. Tino, Hall, Miley, Thiaw, Botman, Ramsey are the ones in the squad who should be today/tomorrows men (alongside Bruno and Tonali form the list above) (Ignoring Wolt as that position is his already) and should be the core when fit. The wings are up for grabs but Barnes needs to be given a go on the left, Murph has the shirt until Elanga starts showing more. I personally think Ramsdale suits the team more than Pope. OF course there is still a massive role for the likes of Burn, but we can't ignore the succession. I don't know how Howe did with this when Bournemouth got to the PL, and I don't envy the task one bit. Knowing how to dismantle and rebuild is however what separates the very very good managers and the elite, and also why most managers build one great team but not a dynasty

Its Big Joe unfortunately. The physicality that he brings just looks to have caught up with him a bit. I've no doubt there will still be the odd game where he will pull out a 9/10, but with a lot of league games he is a neutral presence at best. You do also have Miley to consider though, a tweak in the system maybe there but he brings a calming to the 3. Biggest issue for me atm are the full backs and GK, yes injuries are forcing the FB situation but its there and distribution from the back which is really hampering our game. You could have had Barnes, Elanga and Ramsey starting instead of Gordon, Murphy and Big Joe with the same result today
