We can't expect much more for him if we want to make his wage demands tolerable for potential buyers. I doubt at this stage of his career he is willing to take a wage cut from a contract that runs until 2029, so we need to finance buyers in a way. No club that can afford him will be interested.

Is there a scenario where Artata and his players are so nervous now that they will collectively shit their pants if we manage to keep it tight for 70 minutes or so and then start to up the tempo? We know an early lead to us will mean fuck all, so I'd rather we conserve energy from the start, shithouse them like crazy, make them frustrated and then crank it up to 12.

Difficult to say which games he's been subbed on or off just by looking at minutes played, but he's played 11 full 90's this season total in all competitions.

You the kind of guy that lists his beat up 2003 Toyota Corolla for 80% of MSRP without a hint of shame? What do you possibly think we could get for Schar, Burn or Murphy at this stage of their careers?

There's a lot of people who should think carefully what the phrase "we only want a team that tries" actually means. To many it just sounds good, but in reality they mean they want a team that wins, because if you're not winning, you're not trying. If you spend a lot of money on players that turns out not to be as good as hoped you're not trying. If you got tactically outdone by another team, you just didn't try enough. Basically, we just want a team that wins. Not too much to ask is it?

project crashed and burned players leaving a sinking ship Get a hold of yourself man. It's for the most part been a dissapointing season, but its merely a little setback.

Can't deny Emery gets results, but this Villa team for me is extremely boring to watch with 4 central midfielders behind Rogers in a seemingly free role, and somewhere in the distance ahead of him again, waiting for the ball to bounce the right way, Watkins lurking. Rogers has played in literally all their games this season. Think they are incredibly dependent on him. Like Bruno x3 dependent. Howe > Emery

If only everything in life was that easy Gawalls.

Lets be real. If he ended up here he'd be more injured than fit to play. Can't remember a single time since 2001, probably longer too, where we've brought in an injury prone player and managed to get more minutes out of him than at his previous club.

Don't know what it was yesterday, but he was rarely pressing, and was constantly trying sit back and trying cut off two passing lanes at the same time when we were defending, which of course led to them passing through him at ease. Later on in the game he started pressing more, and had some decent tackles that led to us winning the ball. Always difficult to tell what is manager instruction and what is player decision/instinct, but he should do more of the latter. Same as his passing really. He always pulls off whatever he tries, but he rarely tries the hard stuff. He needs to be unleashed by Howe or focus on how he can unleash himself. Skies the limit for this lad. He just needs to realize it himself, or be allowed to, whatever is holding him back.

Third time's the charm. He'd have earned the right to go again if he got us back in the CL. If he has another 25/26 season the following season I might come to terms with his time being up.

Last week I've seen someone saying they can't stand the sight of him, a few talking about players "being Howe'd" and some assessing his press conference quotes as if it was frauds like Bruce or Pardew saying them. I'm sure there's more, that was just top of my head.

Harsh for Hall, but the sub worked. Rayan was quiet afterwards and Tripper played better than Livramento at RB.

Didn't say that, but I have more confidence in Howe getting it right with a little rebuild than another manager magically fixing lacklusture performances, weak mentalities and poor decisions. Besides, a new manager would require time and a rebuild to get "his team" anyway. They're not getting much help from those in front of and beheind them either.
-
It's a much harder task to replace a team than a manager, but I'd love management/owners to double down on Howe and go for a mass exodus of players and give Howe the chance to build a new team. Lock down Burn, Schar (both won't fetch a meaningful fee anyway due to age, and both are great leaders), Botman, Thiaw, Hall, Bruno and Miley as do not sell. Let anyone else who wants to leave that we get a fair offer for leave.

Nothing new. Leicester fans were saying we'd get a very streaky player, and we have. Never good enough to be a regular starter, and definitely not a man you'd want in the trenches as someone said above. Probably our best finisher, and absolutely lethal when on form. We just need to be better at utilizing him when in good form, and quicker to remove him from the field when he's not. I bet at least, if not more than 70% on here could tell after the first 10 minutes of the game today which version we were getting.

He's like the defensive version of Gordon. The day his strenght and pace goes he won't even stand out in a league 1 team, which is a big worry considering all his injuries. Such a shame with players blessed with every physical advantage to become a truly great player uses it as a crutch rather than a platform to push on. I'm not a very ambitious person professionally myself, I just want to do what I'm supposed to do and clock out, so I get it, but it's a shame.

What a great day to update the ignore list. So many fickle morons coming out of the woodwork.

Can we get Lascelles back for a guest appearance so he can crack some skulls at HT?
-
Not the best performance by the best English fullbacks that.
-
That's not what I'm saying (or trying to say). I'm saying we are similar to them when a player is considering us or Brighton, the same way the players mentioned were considering us or man utd/chelsea. We are a clear step up from Brighton.

We pay higher wages and have a higher ceiling than Brighton. One season finishing below them doesn't change that. See Joao Pedro, Cunha, Mbuemo, Sesko, Palmer etc.
