  1. I personally would be delighted to see Remy and Bent come in. Bent guarantees 10+ goals if played regularly and I'd imagine Remy could do similar and can be deployed with more versatility. Sinclair would be an icing on the cake but with a fit Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Jonas and Gouffran that's the wide areas sorted. The majority of us are deflated but when you only think negatively, the whole situation feels worse than it actually is. We aren't that bad a team and a couple signings can elevate us into top 8 easily. Easily.

    Loïc Remy

Few would have predicted the success Jelavic has been at Everton due to him playing at Rangers in the Scottish League. Sometimes you just can't tell until the player settles in. Another example, I was gutted when we spent £6m on Bellamy and that turned out to be a shrewd move for Sir Bob. Will be optimistic if this Remy deal comes off, regardless of this term's goal tally.
  3. tiote doesnt deserve to be in the 18 the way he's playing and i'm much more up for bigi being there for a while when he's in africa
  4. regardless of outcome, we always have and always will be better than them, in every sense. 3 pts would be canny too. shola ameobi your day has come
  5. Shame the mancs could not have just kept quiet for YNWA.
  6. We have HBA, Marveux, Jonas, Sammy and Obertan. Johnson not a crying need.
  7. To try and put on a positive spin: We have Sylvain Marveux fully fit for the new season, as the case with Steven Taylor. Papiss Cisse plays a full year with us as does Santon and Hatem Ben Arfa begins a season for the first time in his 3rd year with us. So that's arguably 5 players we couldn't rely on this time last year with more experience and settled in. Count Anita in and the development of Vuckic, Abeid, Amalfitano, Bigirimana, Tavernier to add to that. I am personally gutted to miss out on an established RB and ST, but the squad is not as bad as people make out. It finished 5th with additions made. Arguably Liverpool look weak, Arsenal stagnant, and Spurs have ripped a team apart finishing 4th and are in transition with a power-hungry manager! I think we'll be okay because the Europa is evidently an ideal run out for fringe men although I'd love to win it. Pardew has maintained it's league first and I'd say about 18 of our squad are up to that. Perhaps the targets we wanted were not reasonable financially and nobody can argue that last 18 months we've done badly on that side. Positive feelings, you could have ateam that spends £22m on Fletcher and Johnson and believe you've acquired Messi and Pele.
  8. Phoned this morning about 10 ish, suprised i got through straight away.
  9. Woah Woah Woah, He's Magic, You Know, His name is Sylvain Marveux... x infinity
  10. James 'Ivan Cordoba' Tavernier is our defensive weapon this season man.
  11. You can't accept an alternative to Debuchy? How old are you, eight?
  12. Can't really compare us to Chelsea as they spend like it's going out of fashion. Arsenal and Tottenham are in more perilous situations than ourselves due to impending departures of RVP and Modric respectively, hence their acquisitions so (whom I would be less than impressed with). Newcastle United's season does not depend on the arrival of a very good French right-back who happens to be mates with Cabaye. If it happens great, if not we get somebody else because that's worked well for us recently.
  13. Fucking hell lads chill out. We've had two bids rejected, wait for what happens next. May not get Debuchy, we might end up with Van der Wiel and he may be great. Judge our window by the time it has closed, not on August 2nd as all other major clubs have done nowt.
  14. I think that the bashing of Carroll's Liverpool career is unfair, although not without him taking a part of that blame. Under Dalglish he was working with a essentially the footballing dinosaur, and I'm not surprised about what happened. I watched a bit of Liverpool last season and at times he was poor but the midfield and service was abject. Cabaye, HBA etc. would be more productive. Sometimes football isn't logical however, moves can sometimes just not work for whatever reason. Look at top players at some clubs like Forlan at Man Utd, Shevchenko at Chelsea etc. Andy may be one of those players that needs to be at the right club because when he left we were devestated because of the way he had bullied his way to 11 goals before christmas. He IS NOT a bad player.
  15. He'd be potentially 3rd choice striker but as mentioned, he'd be desperate to make it again here which could see him recapture his form and we could really get a good bargain out of it. We undoubtedly play better football now but Carroll is a brilliant alternative as we saw in the Sweden game and weren't we worst from set plays last year? Cisse, Ba, Carroll and the Ameobi's is earth-shatteringly better than when we had Carroll, Lovenkrands, Best, Nolan and Shola. Good move if it happens PLUS it completely takes every iota of piss out of Liverpool which I like.

    NUFC Kits

how can a newcastle united fan find the new black and white striped shirt 'awful'? fussy little mackems
  17. i'd laugh my titty bojangles off if the 'joke debuchy account' reported by the chronicle turns out to be authentic.
  18. sometimes difficult to take when a player who's been linked so strongly is seemingly drifting away. however, i felt the same re: gervinho, gameiro, maiga, aimar etc. but as soon as whoever comes in, is all that matters. this lad seems like a steal at the money given his record and potential, but i trust our hierarchy to get it right and bring in who will do the job. if he's not within budget, he's not within budget, end of.
  19. Just had a look on .cock, only a few tickets left including two blocks of the away section.
  20. Finished 2-2,under 16's won 3-0
  21. lads is anyone aware of any pubs in the town that will be showing the game. haven't watched it in a town bar for ages and the last time i did, the telegraph had it on. any help would be much appreciated. cheers
  22. is this why we failed to get anybody in on deadline day? pardew: 'any news on the ruiz and ridgewell deals, derek?' llambias: 'we've pulled the plug on both deals, both off' pardew: 'what!? what price were the clubs asking?' llambias: 'nothing to do with the price. they were just too damn ugly. think of the calendar man.' pardew: 'yeah suppose...'
  23. we've taken the top scorers out of our team as well as the major contributor of assists to those goals. what we've brought in is hugely inexpreienced and untested in this league. our frontline is very poor and our cb area is already wafer thin. we are overall weaker and the depth is lacking. cabaye and santon appear great first-team purchases, however. 4/10

    Joey Barton

As some have pointed out, I feel Gosling is a very able replacement and Barton's form has dipped since Carroll left. However, we are vulnerable again as we are light in numbers but more importantly it is another disturbance at the club, another bump in the road which unsettles players and fans alike and puts a huge question mark against our plans. For me, the more worrying aspect of this is the message it sends out rather than the playing side. BAAAALZ MAN!
  25. however if it works the man is a genius!
