Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

He basically did, but picked up the wages all the same -
His pace was incredible and his dribbling style great to watch. When he’d smash the ball past his man, then run wide, sometimes outside the lines to overtake the defender and then carry on, was a joy to watch. Shame it was in a Spurs shirt
-
Great career from Bale if extremely bizarre. His career at Real Madrid was so odd. Did it ever come out whether he was nursing some kind of chronic condition?
-
Can only imagine how utterly shit this will be as I won’t be listening. Do find Warnock amusing even though he’s dubious politically

Used to live at the top of my mum’s street in Whitley bay, not sure if they still do, probably upgraded by now

Does Moussa Diaby only play right wing?
-
Firstly he’s past it, secondly wrong sport https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rory_McLeod_(snooker_player)

I know he’s had injury lay-offs so I’d cut him slack on that front but I basically stopped watching our games during the Bruce era. Did he ever show much quality before his long injury lay-off?
-
Doesn’t get much more stonewall than that
-
What would he cost? Given Man U must be absolutely desperate to get rid. I know it means fuck all but I like it when top clubs lose a fortune on players, in the vague hope it will damage them long-term with their spending
-
Bizarre comments from de Zerbi. Keep it behind closed doors. Either the plan is to sell him or to play him, neither is improved by slagging him off. His value goes down in the market or he becomes fucked off with his manager and their relationship falls apart further
-
I don’t mind people saying he played a massive part, everyone is entitled to their opinion but from my side. I’d say he played a part, had a great attitude, came in and worked extremely hard but didn’t actually influence games massively. I feel we could have had one of many strikers in that position who would have contributed equally or more. I like the lad, he’s got a great character but I think people can be a bit too eager to big him up last season
-
In the time he’s been here, he’s shown he can: Score penalties Head balls on to no-man’s land Run at a keeper and defenders and hold a position on the pitch That a £25m return? I know we stayed up last season but I always felt people gave him a little too much credit for that
-
Yeah, I guess a through ball is right. Feel like there should be an even more specific term for it, as the pass is rarely a through ball that releases Almiron to take a strike straight away. Normally it’s a through ball that cuts through a defence, slightly out wide, giving Almiron or someone else a few seconds to gain further ground before whipping in a cross
-
What’s the term for his passes where they stay on the ground and cut out two or three players with an overlapping winger running onto them, usually Almiron? He does about four or five of these a game and they cut through the defence every time. By some distance, it’s our best way of creating scoring opportunities

“I’ve had an idea, bear with me, what if we got a manager in who stifles our play but wins the possession stats game after game? I was thinking someone who means that when we build attacks so slowly, it allows the opposition to get organised so it’s really hard to break them down? Anyone fit the bill?”
-
His attitude isn’t the issue, you can see he wants to succeed and he loves the club, it doesn’t mean much for his performances though when he loses every 50-50 under the slightest pressure, or loses 70-30s in his favour without really contesting them. I genuinely don’t understand how he gets bullied off the ball so easily
-
Struggling to think of the last time one of our strikers or former strikers missed a chance that easy, or at least missed getting it on target by a mile
-
That run and then the weight of the pass couldn’t have put it more on a plate for Wood. The fact that Wood didn’t lift it just over the bar but completely skied it under zero pressure is ridiculous. He has one main job, he can’t dribble, he’s not great in the air, his movement is static, his link up play is very poor. The one thing he absolutely has to do is strike a ball well and he still fucked it up
-
He was absolutely fine, his header would have beat most keepers. His shot is a low percentage shot given the angle. He wanted the ball, his movement was great, he could have been sharper with the ball at his feet but I love him and he is going to score some wonder goals for us
-
Wish he’d scored that chance when he cut back onto his left from six yards and shot into a group of bodies. Was a really nice move to buy himself the space to get the shot off. I really like him and just hope he can get the best out of himself as he’s exceptionally talented
-
I think he will make it, but I think in retrospect he should have gone on loan this season and he still should for the remainder
-
I don’t like to scapegoat one player as there have been a number of weaker performances tonight but that miss is not something a league one striker should be missing, let alone a premier league striker. He’s absolutely done at the top level
-
It’s actually hard to make sense of how slow he is. I can’t remember well, has he always been this slow? It’s like he’s trudging through mud when running back towards our goal
