    U23s & Academy

Villa massacred our Under 18s in the Youth Cup. 0-4 at Whitley Park. Shows how far we still have to go to get an academy that is up there with the better ones.
  5. So far we’ve managed to navigate, either through luck or judgement: - A 3 game suspension for Schar by using Krafu - Botman playing 1 game for the first 5 months by using the Burn, Kelly combo - Wilson being perennially unavailable (again…) and Big Willy being raw as fuck - Regular niggles for Willock Losing Miggy leaves us with Murph and will need similar patching should he be injured, particularly if Barnes suffers a setback. If Schar, Botman, Burn and Krafth are all available I’d be willing to let Kelly go for the right price. Midfield I’m more sceptical over letting Longstaff go with only Miley and a half-for Willock to cover.

Many failed Academy players in the list?
  7. Exactly - remaining amortisation spread over remaining years. So for Lascelles as an example, we signed him for £5m across 5 years - £1m per year amortisation. At the end of year 3 he renewed for two more years on top of his remaining 2 years - so £5m minus £3m = £2m across 4 years = £500k pa amortisation. Ahead of the last year of his deal, we’d amortised for 3 years (£1.5m) and extended him for a year on top of the one year remaining. So £500k left amortised over 2 more years = £250k each year. Now we’ve reached the last year of his deal and extended year by year, we might trigger one year this summer. However by this point his fee will be fully amortised.
  8. Nope. Every time you extend your contract, you just amortise it over a longer period - lower numbers but over the time of the extension.
  9. Hoping Liverpool fans turn on him to derail their season.

Tedious. Just waiting for Deeney and his Team of the Week…
  11. I’m still wanting Mbeumo. He’d be a huge shot in the arm for the first 11 and could be huge in the charge towards the finish line and next season. Dibling is the long term solution but it’s whether we want a project player or instantaneous first team impact. I reckon Eddie has the patience for the latter. Presuming both Mbeumo and Dibling are double cup tied however for this season.

It’s the opposite of Imposter Syndrome. Cunts are an absolute bunch of Walter Mitty’s. Presumably they’ll find some way of justifying why their £40m golden boy Jack Clarke who went for £14m is now a perennial benchwarmer for a bottom 4 team.

Coward Shame Pit per chance? Light smattering of casual racism with a heavy dose of fantasy no doubt.
  15. You can make an argument that Eddie may “rotate” again on Saturday. Southampton away with a full week between games will be the interesting one when everyone is potentially back fit.
  16. So theoretically £5.8m of the annual amortisation cost will roll off with the contract expirations of Lewis and Wilson and Miggy’s exit. I see us keeping Krafu for another year so that would stay but reduce a touch. Lascelles and Dubs are missing but they will be absolutely trivial given fee and length of time they’ve been here. Targett, Willock and Barnes are £14.8m in that and if we can get decent-ish money back for the latter two we could book some profit and clear space for incomings. However, we’ll have to be careful to balance this with a potential European campaign and the need for bodies - all depends on whether we’ve got some youngsters who can start to step up.
