The College Dropout
Aye. Tiote played like someone that hasn't had a start in 10 months.
Yorkie
He played as if he'd played every game this season tbh.
The College Dropout
He made Jack look like prime Patrick Vieira. Looked immobile as owt.
Smal
Tioté played as he always plays. His ineptness was only magnified because we play it on the ground a bit more now.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don't know about that, he looked like he could hardly move. Even when he's spraying the ball and giving it away he usually looks like he can get around.

AyeDubbleYoo
Think we might just need to accept that most fans cheer when things are going well and don't when they're going shit.

George Bailey
Has to demand the club addresses the frailness of our defence in January (if still here). We simply have to sign a centre half to replace Collocini, a proper left back and find a more solid and forward/positive thinking DM than we currently have (ideally selling/shooting Colback) Fair play for today (albeit against a very poor display by Norwich). The scoreline flattered by all accounts but fair play, never easy to score 6 lets be honest. Win next week and a doff of the hat is maybe, begrudgingly given. Guest
Think he's used Wijnaldum, Sissoko, Perez & Mitrovic perfectly the last 3 games. I know Sissoko underperformed in the first two games but I think today's shown that's our best bet. They could do serious damage to a lot of sides. Two against Chelsea, should have been 2-3 at City, 6 today. We've got goals in us.
Gallowgate Toon
It's been a sort of 4-2-2-1-1 with plenty of fluidity and some genuinely great movement off the ball. Have doubts about its longevity but it's a system that should see us do well through the next run of fixtures. It's quite flexible for when we need to either go more possession or counter-based too - Wijnaldum's both comfortable dropping in pockets and sticking further out wide etc.

Mole_Toonfan
Think natural width is a bit over stated myself, when we went in that run with Hatem-Cisse-Ba we had fuck all natural width but created chances by the bucket load. Playing at a high tempo, with movement and incisive passing > natural width.

Guest firetotheworks
Yeah, I prefer width coming from overlapping fullbacks personally.
SteveMc
Yeah, I prefer width coming from overlapping fullbacks personally. Sure - but I prefer the oppositions wingers not to be able to cross the ball under absolutely no pressure. That might be about more than formation but it is a real problem for us

Sure - but I prefer the oppositions wingers not to be able to cross the ball under absolutely no pressure. That might be about more than formation but it is a real problem for us That was happening when we had actual wingers playing wide too. Sissoko second half actually did his job and we didn't concede, first half he barely bothered tracking their left back and Janmaat isn't the best defender in the first place. Did Gini ever play wide in Holland?
joeyt
He gets credit for us looking like an exciting attacking unit today, but it took him too long to realise Ayoze has to start every game

Stifler
It's clear that we are very much in transition under him. I think he said it well during the transfer window when it would take 2-3 windows for him to build his squad. I think he knows we have weaknesses but must wait to change them. The signs have been there for the most of the season, yes we have let old behind come back when our heads dropped, but the signs are there that he wants to change that. Right now we just need the confidence, hopefully we can now get ourselves a decent run going. I'm not on the McClaren bad wagon, but I acknowledge that we have had a tough set of fixtures to start off with and that it takes time for real changes to happen. mrmojorisin75
On the width thing it's worth pointing out that we have potentially one of the best strikers at heading the ball and attacking things in the division yet yesterday didn't put a cross in the box he could attack properly nor really ever looked like doing do. EDIT: suppose it contrasted sharply to the quality and consistency of the crosses Norwich were putting in first half. Mitrovic would have got about 6 from their crosses.
