So he's a legend now

for keeping us up when no-one wanted the job and we were heading for oblivion, yes i think he is a legend.

a one season wonder in a positive sense

if he carries on next season however, i will re-consider my feelings towards him

He should be thanked for what he's done if we stay up, but not celebrated. Keeping a team up doesnt mean he's a legend, if anything it means he's shit but has balls. Thats my take on it.

Oh man, this is the single most frustrating thing, Im so desperate the club to make the right decision, it needs to be an appointment which we can envisage lasting for more than 3 years, Curbishley isnt the right man, better than Jose but not the right man.

Please, please, please get this right. There has to be a good manager out there who who's looking in our direction, I love the club to show some ambition and have a word with Scolari, there arent many big clubs who need him at the moment, surely he'd consider another crack in the prem, much like Sven.

Curbishley, a manager who has proven he can't work under exactly the structure we have at the club. In his short tenure as West Ham boss all I remember is him making them really dull and buying shite players. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up here right enough.

Sven and perhaps Scolari would both require big money to spend, Curbishley at least is proven in budget managment with Charlton and just as well because when he got some money to spend at West Ham he spunked it away.

Scolari hasnt ever really been a cheque book manager, I think he could do a job in getting higher level performances from our squad, Im not sure how good he is in the market. Sven would definitely require funds but I do think he'd be capable of working on a tighter budget (for what its worth i think Ashley is willingto put decent mone into  the coffers). Both would be amazing appointments, Sven was my preferred choce when we appoitned Allardyce.

If the club did something like that I would be absolutely blown away, I just want Kinnear away from this club as soon as possilbe, the last time i felt like this about a manager was with Souness.

I doubt it was Curbishley who was spending multi-millions on the likes of Ljungberg and Dyer at West Ham. Seems like a much more sensible man than that.

That's a corking typo.

If I didn't like my current sig so much that would be going in it.

What did I miss?

heard a rumour that the club are letting kinnear go because of bad health and are bringing in curbishley. :pow:

Would be happy with Curbs until the end of the season. I think we can do alot better though even now, but waiting until the season ends would be best.

Scolari was always going to be a risk, he had been away from club management a long time and lots has changed, I wouldnt turn my nose up at him coming here but it would be nice if he bothered to learn English.

Will undoubtedly get linked to alot of Spanish names again.

Everything comes down to the test results and what the specialist tells JFK tmrw. If he is told to step down at least it has come at a good time with the two week break now.

I think the good thing about all of this is that the decision to keep Kinnear on as manager might be taken out of the club's hands if it's depending on medical advice. I can't see how managing a club like Newcastle can be advisable for a man with history of heart trouble who barely looks fit to walk 10 yards.

I hope the rumours of Curbishley are untrue, he's dull, buys badly and most of his players at West Ham seemed to despise him. If he comes here it will end up being more than half a season and it could turn into another Souness situation.

see what you're saying and if i thought for a second MA would put the necessary effort and finance into getting the next manager i'd agree 100%

however i could see him making another, possibly worse appointment given he evidently can't see problems with :kinnear: in the normal run of things

i'd imagine there are actually worse people out there than :kinnear: although none spring to mind right now other than ron atkinson

Where's all this talk of Curbishly? Horror of a manager!! Why would he want to come here?? Why t'fuck would we want him in the first place!

In an ideal world if JFK can't continue i would like a decent long term manager brought in.

But if that is not possible yet then i would rather go for someone like Venables until the end of the season rather than Curbishley.

Venables rejected the job before JFK took over, why would he want it now? And more importantly why the fuk would you want the fuker here?  :idiot2:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/4583833/Newcastles-Joe-Kinnear-might-not-return-to-St-James.html

Joe Kinnear's turbulent reign as Newcastle United manager was hanging in the balance on Tuesday night as concerns mounted over his health.

Kinnear, 62, spent a fourth night in hospital in Sutton Coldfield and it is understood that tests have now shown that his medical problems are more severe than his initial sunny prognosis suggested.

Kinnear, who had a heart attack ten years ago when he was managing Wimbledon, was taken to hospital last Saturday due to his medical history after he woke up feeling unwell ahead of Newcastle's 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Initial hospital tests gave Kinnear cause to feel he would be back at work in time for Newcastle's game against Everton a week on Sunday but an examination by cardiologists on Monday showed his optimism was misplaced.

If concerns over Kinnear's health problems that surfaced over the weekend prove to be realised then it could spell the end of his managerial career following an eventful six months at Newcastle.

His reign began with a foul-mouthed tirade against journalists and he has regularly had brushes with the football authorities since returning to the touchline.

Should Kinnear be unable to return to work, Newcastle's fight against relegation would be overseen initially at least by his coaches, Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood.

Newcastle's director of football Dennis Wise and managing director Derek Llambias have met this week to discuss the future should Kinnear be told be could not return to work.

However, if Newcastle owner Mike Ashley decides he would prefer a more experienced hand at the tiller it would be no surprise if he asked Terry Venables to take on the challenge.

The former England and Tottenham manager turned down the chance to manage Newcastle earlier this season following Kevin Keegan's resignation because he was unwilling to work on such uncertain terms because Ashley was in the process of selling the club.

Now Ashley has reaffirmed his commitment to the Tyneside and that may be enough to lure Venables to the North-East where he could resurrect his own career six years after his last front-line managerial job at Leeds.

His health is paramount.

If he does have to step down though then now is the time to get the right man in. Venables isn't that man, surely. I could handle him coming in for the short term but that would obviously mean yet another managerial change and disruption at the end of the season, which is something we could really do without.

Honestly, if Ashley really wants to start winning people over again and really taking us forward, then all I ask is that he gets the right manager in and supports him. I don't expect the best (in terms of both the manager and how much money the manager would get to spend) but I expect better than the likes of Kinnear and Venables. There are men out there who could do the job I reckon, even Portsmouth are looking likely to get Sven in.
