Why are people slavering on about divine right. It means nothing. I've never heard anyone ever say their club has a divine right to anything. Its a bollocks term used by haters to put down fans of other clubs.

Mike Ashley: "Well theres only one offer left on the table.....from Freddy. I think we know what our only option is"

**his "Yes men" nod in unison**

Mike Ashley: "Lets call the administrators"

Is that seriously whats going to happen??? A lot of this financial stuff is over my head, so apologies in advance. He'd rather go into administration than accept an offer (albeit not quite the offer he was looking for) from FFS???

Think it was touched on earlier that he could, potentially, not lose as much money through administration due to balancing the loses at NUFC against the Profits from his other companies, which would offset the taxes due.

I am not a tax advisor but pretty sure you can't transfer the losses to a company that is not conducting the same trade under common ownership.

Secondly, what profits is he making elsewhere?

McMahon hits out at NUFC as Profitable Group pull out

STEVE McMAHON today hit out at Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley after confirming the Profitable Group had ended their interest in buying the Magpies due to a lack of “communication and response” from the Toon tycoon.

The respected former Liverpool and England midfielder – who is Profitable Group’s commercial director – was spearheading the Singapore-based group’s bid, with the Far East outfit also admitting they wanted to appoint Alan Shearer as manager if they were successful.

Managing director Derek Llambias has always played down the bid from Profitable, but McMahon responded today when he told the Chronicle: “We have pulled out. How long can you keep hanging on?

“We have put a bid in (two weeks ago) and we have had no communication, no response – nothing.

“It really is poor form from Newcastle, but if that’s the way they want to run their business, good luck to them.”

Reports this morning suggesting the Profitable Group had never provided proof of funds were also batted away by McMahon.

He said: “That is completely inaccurate and it’s not right.”

McMahon told the Chronicle on June 17 that the group’s lawyers and attorneys had spent that week in the capital to prepare their offer before submitting it, but they had received no response.

McMahon added: “I just feel sorry for the supporters up there – they deserve much, much better.

“They deserve to know what is going on.

“We wanted to come in and turn the club round because it clearly needs something at the minute.”

It is understood that there are no other interested parties, apart from the Shepherd family who are keeping a watching brief on the situation at Gallowgate.

But interest from the Malaysian business group who Llambias handed a full-works tour of the stadium is understood to be dead in the water.

However, despite Profitable’s claims that Newcastle have been playing hardball, a source close to Seymour Pierce, said: “They did lodge an interest with us. But they never at any stage provided proof of funds.

“Their interest was always at a low level.”

The source at the London investment bank, though, dismissed the threat of the club going into administration.

This is thought to be a complete non-starter for Ashley, who is determined to complete the sale of the club.

No-one from Newcastle United was available for comment this morning.

It's got to the point now where I've accepted the fact we're going into the season with the same squad, Hughton in charge, and Ashley still being owner. Anything else is a bonus now.

Yeah, same here.

Are we agreed that at this juncture,we would welcome back Fred with open arms?

I reached that point months ago tbh, and it's a complete 360 degree turn from a year ago, that's how little faith i have left if Ashley.

Stinking Skunks: Newcastle United

You can see what I did here: skunks are black and white and so is Newcastle’s kit… well, the one that doesn’t contain shades of urine-yellow, anyway.

Newcastle are in serious trouble. They looked bereft of desire last season after Keegan left and this year they won’t even have the excitement of playing against Manchester United or Fulham.

Currently, they have no manager. Their owner is desperate to sell, but no one really fancies buying them for the asking price. Their squad holds enough quality to win this league with some ease, but it’s a club with more than a whiff of Leeds about it. Every game they play will be against a team desperate to knock over the largest team in the division. Every team will get a big gate against Newcastle. Fans will back their underdogs all the way. I just can’t see, at the moment, how Newcastle will be able to cope.

New owners, a strong manager and a bit of stability could change all that. After all, Sunderland were flailing around like a flock of drowning giraffe a couple of years back until Roy Keane dragged them from bottom to top. But at the moment, 23 clubs are rubbing their hands at the prospect of playing the Magpies. Prediction: 14th.
