Colos Short and Curlies
What I like about Harps this season is the number of shots he catches standing up, almost taking the piss out the striker with a 'is that all you've got' manner. Love it when keepers make regulation saves look piss easy, no need to make it look flashy and make the striker/shot look better than they really are. LoveItIfWeBeatU
Only thing I don't like is his long kicks to the strikers which invariably go to the opposition (although I'm sure he's told to do them by the manager). Why do we never play it short to a defender or midfielder?
Liam Liam Liam O
Like most of our players, he's more than good enough at this level, but not necessarily if we get promoted.
Dr.Spaceman
Surprised he's not getting slated on here. He's done a trerrific job.
Ronaldo
He's a premiership keeper. He did have a few bad games when he first replaced Given last but finished last season pretty strongly. He also did very well when he had his extended run under Keegan.
Keefaz
Just look at the state of the forwards in this league, man. Of course he's good enough.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
He's been excellent this season and would still be solid in the Premiership.
Cajun
Decent Premiership keeper. We had some right histrionics about him at the start of the season
Guest palnese
I wonder where he would have been today if he had been our nr .1 ten years ago.
Guest Alan Shearer 9
Probably Juventus, couldn't have seen them sticking with Buffon if Harper had been getting regular football, just too good.

summerof69
imo harper should be in the england squad though i wouldnt pick him for the first team i mean why not he is a decent shot stopper and doesnt make too many mistakes (touch wood)

Mick
Harper is one of only two of our players that I would feel happy with starting for us next season if we do go up.
Doug
England are going to screw up yet again by taking an ageing keeper in James into the world cup. a young Shilton would never have been beaten by the "hand of god" and as for Seamans useless flap at the ronaldinho lob, hopeless. They both were past it and leaden footed As will be James IMO. None of the others have been convincing so why not Harper.

Rather have Joe Hart, getting a run out as well on loan, hopefully on form by the time the WC comes around. Green's always been a bit lacking for me, a bit like Harper. Speaking of Steve, done very well this season, but should do really.
Thespence
From being back up to Krul to Englan squad!!!! Not even Pete Snow swingometer has seen such a swing.
Village Idiot
Was Steve Harper in goal many many moons ago in a CL game against Juventus at SJP? I remember the Newcastle keeper making a killer save on the late stages of the game and me thinking "that's their #2?".

Ronaldo
Yes, it was Harper. Made 2 great saves late on but almost gifted Nedved a goal in the early stages if memory serves.
Village Idiot
Thought he was canny then. I also have vague memories of Bramble making something ridiculous on the run up of the save...

Ronaldo
Thought he was canny then. I also have vague memories of Bramble making something ridiculous on the run up of the save... Bramble was absolutely brilliant in that game, even his critics agreed.
Village Idiot
80 min It had to happen at some point: Titus Bramble drops a Holy Mary Mother of God ricket and Zalayeta is clean through. But Steven Harper senses the danger and smother his shot. Great save! "How appropriate is it that a defender breaks Newcastle's duck in the Champions League," says Mick Wall, who may or may not be the Kerrang journalist verbally assaulted by Axl Rose in Get in the Ring. "I guess I should keep my big mouth shut about our defence. Come on lads, hold on!" Seems I was right!
Jayson
Not being tested much this season to be able to tell beyond the last minute save which was impressive. But as a prem keeper, i think hes about average really.
