Patrick Van Aanholt from Chelsea signs on one-month loan

Given the brief look we've had at him it's obvious he's still very raw with room to improve. He sometimes looks nervous defensively but seems very confident going forward and has a decent end product on him. Chelsea rate him highly and see him as the guy to step into Cole's boots but for me he looks like he'll grow to be Glen Jonhnson-esque, in terms of having to work on the defensive side of his game.

We should take him until the end of the season, no point in rushing Enrique back.

Why would Chelsea extend the loan if he was only going to be used sparingly when Jose is back?

Even with Cole out he still has more chance of 1st team footballl here, even sitting on the bench means he has to learn how to cope with that. Also Jose will prob not stay fit for 14 games in a row.

But didn't Zhirkov pick up an injury at the weekend too? Chelsea are rapidly running out of left backs.

Providing we can keep him "under wraps" and not over rate the player, then we should definately look to sign him on a permenant in the summer.

It's the sort of situation the club has refused in the past because we have already got a left back. However, we need a big squad and he looks like he would fit in nicely here.

Either sign him up as cheap as possible in the summer or take him on loan for next season.

I think Chelsea might have something to say about your plan there.

There's no way Chelsea would sell IMO

There's no way Chelsea would sell someone who will never play for them?

Don't kid yourself, he's good but he will never play in the first team for Chelsea for a sustained period. Youth systems aren't just about creating talent for themselves but for making money for the club.

Sorry, Frank. :pow:

Decent player from what I saw, good luck to him. Would have liked to have seen Kadar been given more a chance though.

Chelsea will want him to have regular games and with Enrique back soon he won't get that. Good little deal all round though.
