NG32
Good point. Hope it's true, selling Coloccini doesn't bear thinking about. Be prepared, highest earner and 29. BYEEEE!
Guest
Or maybe Barton was in the running to be captain then when his mouth started to go it made his decision for him.
ponsaelius
We've been linked to Mangala all summer. Young, French, cheap and a CB. Seems plausible.
Village Idiot
Standard Liege whizkid Eliaquim Mangala linked in Mirror. Young centre back 4m quid. Funnily, he's also linked to Valencia as a Coloccini alternative.

Pilko
We need a centre-back anyway. If Colo was to go, we'd need two. We're screwed if he does go, like. No way we'll get anyone near as good for the sort of pitiful fees we're forking out of late.
ponsaelius
Christ man, imagine selling him. It would actually be footballing suicide.

That's the main stumbling block for him leaving you, I think. If he's on 80k that's massive for Valencia to spend on a CB.

STM
I've said all along, i can handle any other player leaving (even Ben Arfa) but not Coloccini. Although, i'm sure it's all bollocks.

JH
At the start of pre-season, Pardew said he was not going to name a captain until the start of the season and that he would name a different player to be captain for each pre-season game. Then he very quickly named Colo as the official captain so I wonder whether he feared that Ashley might try and sell Colo and thought that if he made him captain that would deter Ashley from selling 2 captains in the close season. It would send out a very poor message if he is sold and cause even more unrest. Excellent point, totally forgot Pardew had said that. Would be a sad state of affairs if this was true though.
