Cajun
Looks like we have massively ballsed up but the international thing is ridiculous.

JH
Regardless, it's a stupid fucking rule anyway. It's ridiculous, especially given the wages that football clubs pay players these days, that they have zero power. If we want to keep our player, we have every right to. Fuck international football tbh.

Zero
What about "retired from international football" then? Say if a player announced that publicly, and if he's called up to the squad, could the player refuse to join?

Say if a player announced that publicly, and if he's called up to the squad, could the player refuse to join? Even if they've 'retired' they can still be called up. The retirement thing is more like a gentleman's agreement where the player asks not to be called up and the association won't call him up even though they retain the right to. The club's allowed to keep the players if they pay some money to those FA?

It's ridiculous, especially given the wages that football clubs pay players these days, that they have zero power. If we want to keep our player, we have every right to. Fuck international football tbh. its coming to a stage quickly where the clubs (european ones anyway) are starting to fight back significantly against international football and with FIFA and UEFA (through the mouth of its dictator Platini) saying the world cup should be in the middle of the season for the one in Qatar and the major clubs are not going to go along with that so easily. Back on topic the one thing I really don't get is why the hell is the ACN on every 2 years (never mind the fact its on one year after the other this time) when the norm for the majority of major sporting tournaments is every 4 years. Dinho lad
It will be every four years after this one.
Decky
Why are there two back to back anyway? Can you imagine if there was another European Championship next summer like?

Geordie Ahmed
Why are there two back to back anyway? Can you imagine if there was another European Championship next summer like? They are doing it this way so they don't have an ANC in a World Cup year It is a joke that they have this every 2 years
oldtype
They'll probably switch back to even in a few years just to piss us off.

Varadi
Sounds to me like Pardew has spoken to the Nigerian manager and has a gentlemens' agreement not to call him up, but that isn't going to wash with their FA. To be fair to Shola, he isn't going to get another chance to play in an international tournament so I would understand if he wanted to go.
Guest neesy111
It's stupid how he played for England U21's but can play for the Nigerian senior team.
Geordie Ahmed
If Shola is going then we definitely need to sign a striker, 2 if Ba goes. Probably why Pardew wasn't keen on Shola going to the ACN
AyeDubbleYoo
He should go really... what's the point in his decision to play for Nigeria if he's going to miss tournaments?
Ronaldo
If Shola is going then we definitely need to sign a striker, 2 if Ba goes. Probably why Pardew wasn't keen on Shola going to the ACN Like Shola going anywhere leaves a gap we need to fill with a new signing, man. This is a lump of nothing who scores 2 goals a season.
