Seems mental that Sane isn't going, maybe just shows the amount of great teams that Germany could put out.

They aren't as strong as is being made out imo.

I feel like this is the case for a lot of teams, Brazil for example IMO are heavily reliant on Neymar for creativity.

But that's international football for you and partly what makes it interesting for most.

Team in picking players to field their best team and not their eleven best individuals shocker.

Whilst that's very true (and has been England's problem for donkeys years), a squad is 23 players not 11. You've got to take him.

They play him in the middle apparently and he's just not been very good with less time and space when on the ball according to German press.

To further this, when he's played centrally for Germany he neither scores or assists. If he's not going as an out and out winger, then why take him?

He'll be wasted.

Why don't they play him in his best position?

You could argue they do and don't at the same time  He plays across the attacking 3 in a 4231, but they are generally quite a narrow trio and he's encouraged to stay inside. His best play for City is often hugging the touch line. Even when he played in a 433 for Germany recently, he's required to cut inside rather than stay wide from the LW.

Cutting in from LW onto his right foot is hardly promoting his talent. It's a contradiction to his club form.

Bless him.

The players that have gone ahead of him are hardly scrubs. The argument that is being made is he hasn't (yet) starred while playing for Germany, which is probably justified.

Looking at it from an outside perspective, he's a quicker player than any of their other options, and would offer something different to Draxler or Brandt. That seems the biggest issue in his non-selection. However if their system doesn't really fit a player of his skillset then perhaps it's not worth it.

Fair enough, tbf it's not like I've been watching the German qualifying games or owt.

Still think he would've been a useful sub to have, at the very least.

 Love the fume when countries that nobody ever watches bar in international tournaments don't pick players that under perform for them

Has anyone seen any decent wallcharts either for sale or included with magazines/papers that are out/due out? Preferably one where you fill in the group standings?

This is by far the best I've seen, costs a tenner but goes to charity.

Decent, might invest. Cheers.

Get the papers at work so swiped the free one out of yesterday's Sunday Mirror but it doesn't have space for the final group standings.

Interesting.

The amount of international games they play in CONCACAF is mad.

Gold Cup every two years, plus each team has to play a minimum of 16 games each World Cup qualification cycle (even more if you start in the earlier rounds and don't get a bye).  Plus tack the usual BS friendlies on top and the Copa America invites that get handed out.
