Greg
I've obviously missed it but what's going on at Chelsea these days? Struggling with transfers, pissing Conte about, going after the likes of Carroll and crouch allegedly. Has Roman lost interest or something? New stadium. Superior Acuña
I've obviously missed it but what's going on at Chelsea these days? Struggling with transfers, pissing Conte about, going after the likes of Carroll and crouch allegedly. Has Roman lost interest or something? Wants to run it as a sustainable business now. Not sure on the background to that decision though.

Plus they've that business model of signing loads of bairns and selling for profit which is going quite well.

ElDiablo
At least it's still going to be on the same site and not in some fringe suburb.

Stifler
New stadium is expected to cost £1bn in total. Hot fuck. Aye, it has significant site restraints. Costs a fortune to engineer it in a way that it can fit.

mrmojorisin75
Why don't they have a clock on motd?
Greg
Why don't they have a clock on motd? A clock on each Match of the Day edit would require a separate graphics operation to superimpose the time live on each game. At present one graphics source puts the graphics on all matches once they're edited. Any changes would therefore be very costly. It would also lead to the clock jumping dozens of times during an edit as we pull up close-ups' date=' replays and set pieces.[/quote']

ponsaelius
It's not just Match of the Day. Most highlights programs will not include a clock.
Wullie
Before each clip, the relevant minute comes up next to the scoreline at the top.
tgarve
What is the rules for which games are using bar at the moment? Does ours have it today?
Bimpy474
What is the rules for which games are using bar at the moment? Does ours have it today? Ours doesn't, not sure why it's at some grounds and not others. My guess would be camera angles, think they need facing cameras across the pitch for the lines the software adds to be perfect, for offsides.
wormy
Was about to ask this in the Pardew thread but guess it's better off in here. What do managers see in taking the players somewhere for a warm break in the winter? It may lift spirits for the couple of days they're there but I can't help but think the shock of such different weather can't be a benefit?
Hanshithispantz
In the case of Pardew and his ilk i’m near 100% certain it’s because he himself would prefer a trip to the beach rather than spend more time in the pissing rain.
sbnufc
Surely more about team bonding, different setting/change of scenery, morale etc?
Guest
Maybe able to do more intense training with a lower risk of injury to hamstrings, etc that you'd get if you tried the same in freezing conditions?

Sean
As penalty shoot-outs have been changed on the basis that one team going before the other gives an unfair advantage, should all league games not kick off at the same time on the same day as playing before another team (or having another days rest) can give an unfair advantage too? Not really serious, just think the penalty rule change is stupid as fuck
Interpolic
I think the shootout rule change is good. I noticed years ago - when I was obsessed with football rather than just fairly interested as I am now - that the team going first seemed to win more often. 6/10 times or whatever it is is too statistically significant to ignore. This is one of the only recent rule changes I've been bang into, as a it's a quick win in terms of eliminating an unfair advantage in a situation where the 2 teams couldn't previously be separated. The shootout itself is a bit confusing to follow for the time being but that should change after a few years once we're all used to it.
gjohnson
Is there any reason why teams can't spend pre-season at a high altitude camp to increase red blood cell count and oxygen carrying ability?
MagMal
Probably because the football pitches on Mount Everest are all a bit steep.
