Deckard 13
I'm not sure he would ever really have been good enough but then I think that of every true CM option we have. Much like Anita or Dummett, he is liked because of the relative weakness of those around him rather than on individual merit alot of the time. Not bad, just not good enough. SEMTEX
Our CM is shit. Who knows if Mehdi was the answer, but I know for sure that the Anita-Colback partnership isn't. We've got plenty of shit in the squad, how about we get rid of those chumps first?

nemtizz
That's his point. We should have better options.
Hanshithispantz
Anyone with sense would have Abeid over Colback man, even if the only reason for that was to ensure Colback isn't a mainstay in the centre for the next 5 years. Abeid could be fucking dogshite and we'd still be a better club for it.

Jon dahl Tomasson possibly the one standout?

StrandedX02
Why do our fans love Colback so much? Put on Twitter that I'd rather he left than Abeid and someone quoted me and put "Eh??", do I watch a different Jack Colback to everyone else? I wrote a blog post last week criticizing Colback for his overly safe and slow-paced passing and saying that I saw him as a squad player. Multiple people wrote in to tell me that I had no comprehension of the sport.

Those comments were so ridiculous that I literally sat there a couple nights later and tweeted out chart after chart of other 4-2-3-1 midfielders in the same position (Shelvey, Henderson, etc.) to demonstrate that you don't have to be allergic to the final third of the field when playing that position. SEMTEX
I've decided to classify him as a "Box-to-Box Defensive Midfielder", he'll go on random jaunts into the opposition half, looking like a true B2B, but then when in the final third, instead of using pace and power to take someone on / make a chance, he'll whip out his best Scott Parker pirouette, killing any form of momentum in the attack, and leaving all the players around him flatfooted. xLiaaamx
It's thay fucking moment where colback will look for the switch, after 5 seconds see that it's on, and then pass it 5 yards to haidara anyway
Unbelievable
We've let a fair few decent players leave for peanuts this past year or so. Hopefully the unproven ones we've brought in hit the ground running and prove to be real upgrades, or we'll just have done one step forward then one step back. Dokko
Never saw anything from him to suggest he was going to make it as a premiership player, not even to the standard of what we've got, but that is mainly down to not being given any chances by the club. Possibly a year too soon this, would have like to give him an extension and let him fight out for a place this year but that probably wasn't enough for him when he had this offer on the horizon. Good luck to him.

Good luck to him. Echo these sentiments. I believe he would have made a competent midfielder for us and last season I believe he was playing the holding role very well in that spell he had. Pretty gutted tbh.

I can forgive TT for missing a few games last season in what was a rare bright patch in club form, partly because Abeid shone in that defensive midfield role, but for the entire club to have missed that run of games is a stretch of the imagination for me. The "never seen anything to suggest he was going to make it as a premiership player" is nonsense; he looked one of our best players for that short while, before being jettisoned inexplicably, in the same way that Bigirimana shone for a short while only to disappear in the shadows again in favour of such luminaries as Dan Gosling. Anyway, I'm sad to see him go but happy for him that he's moved to a club where he may get his chance to impress once more. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we saw him back at a decent level playing for a good team in a few years time.
