Yohan Cabaye retires

On the plus side at least we wouldn't have to listen to Pardew try and flog him in every press conference he gives.

It'll be someone else next. I am absolutely 100% convinced AP is on a bonus for % profit on transfers.

I really would love to know where this daft notion came from apart from ridiculous paranoia

Here's where it comes from................

AP is pretty much the worst paid manager in the top tier.

MA pays all of his key staff bonuses based on performance in every single one of his businesses.

It has been widely reported that MA has given AP an 'incentives' based contract - Llambias said so when he was in charge in his programme notes.

Given that we know the top 4 is a pipe dream and unrealistic the next best thing is Europa league which we know the club don't want. So what is AP's target? Finish as close to, but not in, the Europa League every year and he'll get what? A sports direct mug?

If MA's incentive is to tick the business over in as positive a financial state as humanly possible to attract a buyer at a premium, AP is absolutely vital in that.

Which other managers would accept their best players being sold from under them and be completely complicit in it? What is the incentive for AP?

Can only be financial. Call that paranoia if you wish. I'll call it reality.

It's utter bunkum.

We know quite a bit about Pardew and all the staff and players bonus schemes. There is absolutely sod all evidence for what you're suggesting.

Believe this is bullshit, not a chance we are making sure we've got a replacement in place before selling someone.  Far too logical for my liking.

That's the only thing we can cling to, we wouldn't be waiting for a replacement if we had a deal worked out.

Without lapsing into 'body language' I did wonder if him giving his shirt to the fans at the end meant anything.

I think that was just because he was getting so much love from the fans with the nonstop singing of his name.

My concern here is whether this €26m really IS dependent on Cabella signing, or whether we'll sell anyway. If Cabella joins and he goes then fair enough, just as long as we don't get a Carroll situation.

Can we have a new owner, please? :weep:

Unless a new owner was an Arab multi-billionare, would a new owner really make a difference? The sums needed to repeatedly break into the top four are now vast, and the second tier of Europe is an utter joke. It's only natural any top class play aspires to play in a Champs League club. That's where the money and prestige is.

I like the way everyone has concluded that this is a done deal  that's how negative the club has become. It doesn't look good but, you never know what is happening.

From what I can see it came from a 20/21 year old on twitter. Why are you questioning it?

Not unless a load of other random people are in on it.

Because they have French sounding names? I suppose Jean Micloud and Pierre Sossison are more reputable than those who retweet Colin Warris's tweets.

Because they were watching Canal+ too at the time.

Darren Lewis from the Mirror said on the radio earlier that he had interviewed Cabaye after he game yesterday and he had some interesting quotes.  He wouldn't expand on it but I don't think it will be anything particularly noteworthy.

I'd like an owner that would spend some of the clubs cash and run it professionally.  An arab owner wouldn't be needed for that.

Let's just see what happens. Social media is the devil, yet I'll search high and low through it all the same.

Well if you'd mentioned Sardine trawler before I might not have been so sceptical.

True - just thought that it might have some last significance as it was the last game before the end of the window.

Also mentioned by the guy who does the English language sections of the PSG website and presents PSG TV

Canal+: PSG & Newcastle agreement for Yohan Cabaye (€26m). Transfer to go through if MHSC's Remy Cabella joins Magpies. #PSG #NUFC #MHSC

Jonathan Johnson ‏@Jon_LeGossip

Well there you have it! PSG's reaction to Rabiot injury according to Canal+ is to agree fee with Newcastle for Cabaye. #PSG

Montpellier coach Courbis refused to elaborate on rumours that Cabella is deep in talks with Newcastle earlier. Move real possibility.

On the plus side, this is the only way we'll sign any players - we'll probably get 3 or 4 with this cash over the next couple of windows, when otherwise we'd have doubtless gone without.

Hell no, we're at a one in one out stage now. You dont want to end up like Portsmouth now do you, irresponsible wally.

I'd be surprised if the money was used for anything more than getting to keep Loic Remy and replacing Cabaye with Cabella.

Sign Cabella, get the Remy transfer wrapped up, about as good as we could hope for under this lot.

I hate to say this but that isn't rather good like. Cabaye leaving aside.

Why would Remy want to sign permanently in this window? He'd be monumentally daft not to wait until the summer and see what offers he gets. We've got first-hand experience that he's willing to chase the money, and he might even get in the World Cup squad.

I think we've no chance of sigining Remy permanent, wages and him wanting Champions League. Still nice to see him here now though.
