buzza
If a team full of Smiths played a team full of Obertans, the Smiths would wipe the floor with the Obertans. How f***ing scientific is that? The Smith team would have to forfeit the game after they have had too many players sent off. f***, I f***ing hate Alan Smith. Hid throughout the games only to show up and do a daft tackle every now and then to fool some idiots that he was a "hard worker". Agree completely, Smith was overhyped since his first season at leeds, found out mid career then with an injury arrives at NUFC, couldn't imagine a worse piece of business ever! buzza
At least Obertan has looked good in maybes two games, more than can be said for smith
Nattfare
Yeah Alan Smith always flew in with late alibi tackles because he couldn't keep up with the pace. Gabriel Obertan is another Ryan Babel or David N'Gog. Got the physical and technical aspects to be a top footballer. None of them are aware of their surroundings past the tip of their feet. Good on a ball, but not enough footballing brain to ever become good at the game itself.

Ste
Smith looked ok before that leg break against Liverpool. Not great but useful. That injury pretty much finished him in the top flight, so naturally we come along with a long term deal and £60k per week on the table.
Nattfare
Think they were joking about his time in Leeds that he was a striker with more cards than he had goals.
Guest waterbottle
Waste of wages. Might as well play with 10 men. Might even be better, we'd pass it to players who are not named Obertan.....
Collage
According to Wiki, Smith never scored for us, in 94 games?
Nattfare
According to Wiki, Smith never scored for us, in 94 games? He scored in a friendly against Rangers in his first season with us. But that's it.
Ryan
Sampdoria I think it was. Witnessed it live, lucky me.
Nattfare
You're right, it was Sampdoria. At least you can boast about that you actually saw Alan Smith score for us.

Nattfare
He's s*** on the ball as well, man. I think he looks worse on the ball than when he came here to me. At least he looked like he knew a couple of tricks on the ball... even if was mostly just those lazy setpovers. Now he looks like he doesn't even have that anymore. Ronaldo
Anyone catch the moment in the first half near the edge of his own box where he proceeded to lose the ball 3 times in the space of around 10 seconds? Most entertaining thing I've ever seen him do in our shirt.
TaylorJ_01
My flatmate told me he was so bad it was beyond belief. Something about doing a pirouette without the ball while trying to tackle and falling over.
joeyt
I remember in the first half he tried to header a ball which was about knee height
AyeDubbleYoo
He was pretty bad, he even managed to lose the ball in situations where he had loads of space, just by running straight into trouble.
TRon
Charver's clever plan to sacrifice a midfielder for another deadly winger almost worked. We only gave up about 60% possession and one of those trademark lightning strikes from Obertan could have changed the game.
