Interpolic
Was a bad, bad, bad interview. Think he was given too much credit initially because he could string the odd sentence together and was bold as brass. Read the content and he's fucked it, despite the copious preparation he's obviously made.

Yup, at first you hear words like "investment/Champions League/Make our own luck" etc, but if you dissect it, hes very careful to essentially promise nothing at alll. And absolve himself of any responsibility when it all goes wrong again, despite his "My door" shit. He's absolutely fucked it, AO were spot-on with their viscous response and I hope it's held up to scrutiny in years to come every time he pulls some new bullshit that makes NUFC a laughing stock. Was clearly just trying to save his own skin on the advice of his PR man and he fucked it. Not only is he not investing in the slightest (which is fair enough tbh), he's effectively doing the exact opposite with his SD shite preventing the club from raising further commercial revenue. Even if they are cynical he will still have two shit shield to use in Charnley and probably Carver. Especially as our fans angst can't even last 90 minutes ffs. No lose situation if he means it great but if he is talking his usual crap as many of us believe, then he has come out of his rabbit hole and there are plenty of guns waiting. He nearly lost 60 million plus in 90 minutes on Sunday (potentially double and more if not instantly promoted) and with the pressure cooker hotting up he is panicking as that is 3 times in 6 seasons his model has blown/nearly blown up in his face. The season ticket sales are not that important of an issue but losing that much tv money and the increase negative publicity certainly are. I said it was a load of s*** yesterday that this source was saying Carver has got the job as there is no way on earth Fat Mike will appoint that cretin bringing almost certain relegation and you can bookmark me on that as well. NUFC
I would say that pretty much every side to have been succesful in the PL had a British spine, mind. It's not so much about nationality per se but the importance of recruting players from a top standard of football with quite a unique tempo and physical demands. Plus PL rules state all clubs must have 8 home grown players over the age of 21, without selling anyone and excluding players out of contract (R.Taylor, Sammy, Alnwick, Streete & Campbell) this is currently Krul, Williamson, Colback, Elliott, S.Taylor, Darlow, Lascelles, Dummett Obviously people may want some of these sold but we would need to replace them with another home grown player
Guest Hog
While I am the first to quote part of the findings from the Kevin Keegan tribunal (as in that the club intentionally lied to and misled the media and fans of the club), I would have been willing to give Ashley one last chance to do the right thing... however... as soon as he said in his interview that he would continue his policy of investing alarm bells began to ring for me. As soon as it was out of his mouth I just switched to it being a load of placating bollocks, very little of it didn't just sound like empty words. If he really, REALLY wanted to do something to change his perceived image, something to wipe the slate clean and start fresh with the fans of the club all he would really need to do is firstly remove Charnley, replacing him with an experienced general manager/chairman, someone with a background already in football that's respected within the game. Then secondly bring in a new, capable manager/head coach, they're out there - I don't expect a world-class appointment, just someone who has at a minimum been able to get a club towards the top half of the league and put in a decent enough cup run (it'd be a start at least). And lastly, an injection of 'some' talent in to the first team, maybe not all at once, I don't expect massive changes overnight but if replacements were made for the players with lesser ability or perhaps a couple of more influential players (like we did when we brought Nolan and perhaps Barton in). I don't know, maybe my ambitions in supporting the club have dropped but we need to build up after falling so far, a good showing of doing it correctly in the first place would help extend an olive branch.
