Read somewhere that the linesman flagged for handball and that VAR couldn't conclusively overturn it being mentioned as if that's some sort of mitigation.

That makes sense but isn’t the onfield decision only applicable to the ref and didn’t the ref initially give it?

Ref went to the screen for Tino's handball in the CL

Slightly different when it's the scorer as all handballs = handball and disallow I think, whereas everything else is subjective.

That's up there as possibly the worst VAR decision of all time mind.

Consistently inconsistent which didn't help either team.

The shirt-tugging on Burn in the box twice was daft and second time he just bottled it by blowing his whistle to stop proceedings and tell the defender off after the ball was already in play so really no excuse for not giving that one.

Would need to see it again but for the penalty I actually thought Bruno fouled Anderson not the other way around.

Only other gripe is the lack of protection Woltemade is getting in general. But I'm not too fussed because we won and if anything it'll be good for his development.

This is winding me up the most, defenders are quite clearly grabbing a chunk of his shirt and the refs are just saying aye carry on

Every single minor decision today he called wrong. Fucking imbecile of the highest order. They’re meant to be there to let the game flow. Instead, he blew up every single time one of our players was within touching distance of theirs. Also missed two deliberate handballs from them

Couldn’t see the handballs live but I couldn’t believe how he managed to give them so many soft free kicks. Unreal.

One from Anderson and one from Williams I think. Anderson’s stopped Wolt receiving it 25 yards from their goal on the turn so was particularly egregious

Piss poor. Would blow for the slightest bit of non-contact but gladly ignored every bit of shirt pulling and grabbing. A bizarre mindset.

They should just do away with the rule, it's ignored anyway. We'll end up seeing someone pinned to the ground and choked out UFC style before the season's out.

Luckily we turned it on in the second half  but this bloke was awful. Missed two handballs and and two penalty’s.

Minimal contact according to VAR.

The arm was close to the body both handballs according to VAR.

VAR needs VAR according to me...

Around the 56th minute he blew dead a corner when at least two of our players hit the ground before the corner was taken. It looked very close to having already been taken and therefore a penalty. Anyone got the match recorded to check?

Proper anti-football ref. God knows how they got away with that pull on Burn (x2!)

However, begrudgingly have to say credit where it's due because that was an excellent call on the non-foul before Bruno's goal.

This is my biggest hate in football regardless. Why do they feel the need to slow the game down more to tell them off? Let them do it and give penalties/free kicks and it will stop. Every game they take forever telling players off for stuff that they all already know, winds me up

What baffles me more than anything is that no matter who the ref or the opposition is, Ryan Yates gets away with being an absolute thug game after game. I mean we have Joelinton, but he's a walking yellow card, Yates is much more of a snide dirty cunt and always gets away with it.

He is yes and you’re right to call out Joelinton. Would be interesting to see who other fans think is worse out the two
