WarrenBartonCentrePartin
they are. It's now getting to the point that we don't even win the fucker, it's just headed away.
toontownman
mainly because the kicks and corners don't actually reach Williamson or even the front post.
Greg
Is it just me or are they getting even worse? At least we tried something different at one point today, if Anita hadn't had a heavy touch Cabaye would have had a decent shot at goal unchallenged from 6 yards out. Guest
Not exactly a set piece, but our kick-offs = Take a touch and boot it straight towards the corner flag. I remember when Marseille used to do that. Did it against us, kick-off, boot it out for a throw near the corner flag and try and pen them in. Remember Drogba waving frantically doing that. Dinho lad
Is it just me or are they getting even worse? It's worse because every team in the PL knows what we're going to do. So fucking predictable.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Mark Douglas @MsiDouglas Colo songs within 2mins from #nufc fans. @paulfraserecho just pointed out how pointless kick off routine is from home side:welly into corner
Guest
It's ok if you can actually pen them in but we can't even do that.
Bish
Today wasn't even in the corner, I think it bounced three times and went out for a goal kick.
Wullie
Robson's team used to do the same like, Robert would always charge forward at the whistle and we'd howk it towards him and inevitably it would go over his head for a throw in.
Guest
Yeah, there was also a spell, Robson or Gullit, where the centre would be Shearer & Ferguson together over on the flank, and we'd launch the ball diagonally for one of them to win in the air. matta
Close to 450 days since last corner goal now? Might aswell just stay behind, countering the inevitable counterattack.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
We may as well take a corner in the same way Barcelona and Spain do (i.e. never cross it into the box, instead we pass it straight back to midfield).

It was so obvious it was going to happen when he eventually got it in space

It probably depends where you draw the line between the corner and open play resuming. I bet the number of goals scored in the period of play following corners is pretty high, with lots of action around the box, the defence potentially disorganised for a moment and a forest of bodies in front of the keeper. If the ball is cleared and then recycled into the box a couple of times resulting in a shot from 18 yards deflecting in, was that a goal from a corner? I think what I've inadvertently done there is add my voice to the "play it short" brigade haven't I? Kind of
Varadi
Really looking forward to having Steven Taylor back, someone who will actually attack the ball in the air.
