He's on the last year of his contract right? So we aren't going to get any significant money for him, that means at worst he can be a useful squad player for us like today. More than happy to keep him here until we buy an upgrade.

Disagree with that completely must have been watching a different game to everyone else. Thought he showed more in that 90 than Perez and Aarons had in the same position.

TBF to the guy he has been absolutely shafted by the club so far.

Nah. Hatem was, to some extent, shafted. Not this guy. Alsoran just doesn't have anything about him as a footballer. He's lucky to have made so much money out of the club while failing to fulfil his role.

"Until the end of the transfer window, it is quite complicated to keep everybody focused," said Benitez.

"But we are doing what we have to do every week. We were talking about Gouffran, and maybe he was thinking about offers that could come, but he had to play and he did really well.

"It is not easy for any player to think ‘I have to be really concentrated and focused when maybe tomorrow I will leave’, but you have seen examples in the Premier League of players playing one game and then leaving the following day for another team.

“I’ve said a lot that these players are quite professional.

"Every training session they are working hard, even the players who know they might leave. He is a good professional, a good player, and we needed a bit of experience in the wide areas. I think he did well."

I know he's nowt special but if we lose him then we really are down to the barest of bones in terms of wingers.

He's not a winger, he's a second rate striker from the French league who can do a job in several positions.

Barely realised he was playing.

Apart from his direct involvement in two goals ?

Refresh my memory.

The ball came off him for Hayden to score and he was fouled for the penalty. Two direct involvements don't you think ?
