In a move that suggests he is prioritising Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland, Pardew has recalled Mike Williamson and Gael Bigirimana for a game the Magpies must win by at least two clear goals if they are to progress. Williamson is surprisingly preferred to James Perch, who is on the bench, and will partner Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in the absence of injured duo Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini. Bigirimana gets the nod ahead of Sylvain Marveaux, who is also on the bench, and will play in a deep-lying midfield role alongside Vurnon Anita. Marveaux is not on the pitch anywhere near often enough. Pardew is what he is. He's going into a home game where we need to win by at least 2 clear goals talking about keeping it tight. HBA only just back from injury so he was never going to start. Only one is Marv for Bigi. Maybe Marv is knackered and doesnt have as high a stamina as say someone like, Santon or Jonas. Thing is he clearly does.... last time he started a game against Arsenal we dominated possession at the Emirates i know we lost but that wasn't his fault as we collapsed when he went off. That night he had 79 touches of the ball which is more than Wilshere and he had 94% accuracy. What you describe Bigi is the complete opposite of what he actually is, he is very composed, technically good and always wants the ball. Best way of scoring two goals, many managers would consider cramming the team with attackers and taking the game to them.
