Newcastle United 0 - 3 sunderland - Post-match reaction from p58

90% of the mongs kicking off wouldn't have even been to the match.

.com pretty much on the money.

Once again, seeing gangs of lads walking towards the stadium after full time confirmed that many of those looking for bother hadn't actually attended the game and were drinking in the town and watching it on TV, if at all.

While not seeking to underplay the disorder, there seems to have been a certain amount of hysteria the media reporting. That was exacerbated partly by the ready availability of footage and also the convenience of the "soccer weekend of shame" articles prompted by the incidents involving Millwall at Wembley on Saturday.

As a guide, the 20 arrests made at the away game last October were reported only in the context of alleged racist abuse, while the 36 arrests on wearside in January 2011 and 29 there back in October 2008 attracted no more than one line mentions in the national press.

Also, unsurprisingly, the local TV News seems to be making a huge story of the post match stuff, while ignoring what were probably the worst incidents i.e. the smoke bombs being thrown down into the crowd below inside the Stadium.

I seriously can't get over the limp attempt that was by us.  I simply don't buy the fitness argument especially when 1/2 of the team didn't start v Benfica.

I am not sure what being at the match or not has to do with it, they were Newcastle fans. I guess the fans not at the game were more likely to be slightly more pissed as they weren't drinking the piss water SJP serves. We are city centre club and that played a big part in the high level of cunts that were in NE1 yesterday.

A lot bars had music blasting and people dancing and you wouldn't of known about 2/3 hours before Newcastle had got beaten 3 nil by the scum until bang a fight kicked off and loads of people went wading in.

I took my 1o year old daughter yesterday not her first match but first Derby, went diwn early took her down close to Sir Bobbys statue let her experience the SMB arriving at the ground, she was in amazement. Got to our seats she was buzzing but the longer the match went on the more subdued she became, devastated her first derby match was to see a nothing performance like that. Let as soon as the whistle went headed straight for the bus as I just knew it was going to kick off.

All round shit day.

These past 25 hours have been shit.

Been a really shit season all told, performances, injuries, decisions etc.

A couple of decent European nights, a great victory against Chelsea, that's about it. Even our single away win was a nail biting, painful evening.

I thought Reading was the nadir until yesterday.

Excuse my ignorance on this matter, but I was really intrigued by this last night. I couldn't believe it when me and my mate walked out of the casino at about 10pm and the Gate was nigh-on empty. Did everyone just 'peak' too early? Did more shit go down that we were oblivious to whilst holed up in there? Is that a general Sunday night? As I swear it was still mental when we called it a night last year at about 1am.

Maybe all those pubs opening at 6am should have a think about next season (if we're in the same league, of course).

Doesn't make much of a difference tbh.  People wanted to cause bother yesterday with or without alcohol.
