They still had the same amount of police around, but they were left to walk up to the ground in small numbers. As said, I think the no police escort was a success so no reason why the same cant happen with us. They'll flirt, but never actually be in enough trouble to get excited about. They are hard to beat, don't score enough but Defoe will get them the odd goal and the odd win will come when they need it. I reckon they'll win more games than us between now and the rest of the season, probably pick up more point as well but we will still finish ahead of them. They are hard to beat, don't score enough but Defoe will get them the odd goal and the odd win will come when they need it. I reckon they'll win more games than us between now and the rest of the season, probably pick up more point as well but we will still finish ahead of them. The coppers I know said the non escort was a bit of a disaster and that the reason for the low arrest number was that the police couldn't get to the outbreaks of trouble quick enough. Said a number of soft target fans got hit on and there was nowt they could do. I was up at The Five Swans and there were shit loads of police and videoing in the hope that in the event of trouble they could pick them out from video taken earlier in the day. With better players Poyet would be decent. Kinda like Martinez. however I'd say I was an independent Newcastle fan. Someone who knew nothing about the rivalry till recently.
