The College Dropout
For a poacher he doesn't seem to score that many? Only one season in his whole career where he's scored double figures. He's not a poacher. He gets very involved in the game. For a short lad he's pretty good in the air and holding it up. Runs the channels very well. Basically is great for a team and keeps the opposition CB's busy. Can play uptop on his own but ideally he would be next to someone capable of 15-25 goals. Although tbh we have Gouff who can do something similar.
Jimburst
Aye, he's quite Gouffran esque, actually. Fast, hard worker, decent leap, fairly good technically, doesn't score loads.
AyeDubbleYoo
He's also pretty good at playing up front alone, running channels and getting on the end of direct balls etc. He's actually pretty good in the air and physical for someone of his size. Not sure how we would play to accommodate him but I rate him as a player.

Disco
For <£5m you'd do well to find another proven PL based player. Linked with him in the Star today FWIW...nothing probably.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Getting Shane Long for a much reduced fee (due to his contract expiring in the Summer) would seem to fit the way NUFC go about transfers under this regime. Shola isn't getting a new contract so he will need replacing. It is far from guaranteed that Remy will be here next season. Shola and Remy out with Long and Gomis in for low fees would meet the current NUFC transfer 'model'.

Teasy
When he went to West Brom I definitely thought we should have been in for him, not quite as sure about him now but he'd still be a useful option up front. With 6 months left on his contract in January we should be able to get him for £2-3m.
Dave
Long would tick a lot of boxes including the most important one. Obviously that just makes it an easier link for the press to make.

Cisse should really be that player, if he can't get back to form we should be replacing him with someone like that. If Cisse can't get it together then I'd like to see: In: Remy, Gomis, Long, Cisse replacement Out: Cisse, Shola, Obertan, Marveaux Very unlikely we're going to see that many changes in the next two windows, but I can dream. TaylorJ_01
Would take Long, think he's good. Would give us a good option and hopefully we can put Shola down.
Guest
Must be missing something, never seen anything to suggest I'd have him here before. I've no doubt now that he'll show me in two weeks.

Teasy
Depends on the players/deals available and who we let go. Like I said unlikely, but its what I would like to see not what I strongly believe will happen.
Mole_Toonfan
Demble is so overrated. Yet better than any of our lot other than Cabaye. Also Long is bang average... we already have players who work hard. Besides we enough strikers who don't score goals, we need a starting CF who we can rely upon not more back up. Guest bimpy474
Ignoring those reports, does anyone really think we'll sign more than one player. The only reason we bought last winter was because we were in danger of going down. Unless Ashley has a rush of ambition we will only sign a striker and a slim chance of a LW if Marv goes out. GeordieDazzler
Longs a proper little wind up merchant as well. Sign him up.
Pilko
Pretty sure that in January we'll be back in for Gomis and that will be all, in terms of incomings anyway.

We would need someone capable of getting 20 goals but I don't think Gomis is that man. We need the option of at least one big striker who can hold the ball up. Apart from Shola we haven't got any other strikers who can do that. As I understand it, Gomis has those sort of attributes. Obviously there are no guarantees we will get Gomis. If we don't get Gomis we need a striker similar to him. In theory it shouldn't be too difficult to replace Shola with someone better.

If Shola's not there next season we won't have anybody to win the ball in the air if Pardew decides he wants to go long ball in a game. EDIT: yeah what he just said above basically. Al Moody
I'd be delighted if we picked up Gomis and one other signing.
AyeDubbleYoo
Me too, I'd probably rather the other one was a CB than another forward. Getting a quality one in January won't be easy mind.
Ronaldo
Longs a proper little wind up merchant as well. Sign him up. Won't do much for Colo's confidence, getting raped every day in training by a player whose best days have been in the Championship. Rate Long, btw. He's far much more than a poacher.
