George Bailey
IF we sign Gomis then we deserve all we get, which will be relegation, nailed on. We have given some hope, some limited smattering of a sense that we are trying to claw our way out of this shit by some positive signings. Passing in midfield, some pace on the flanks, looking at our defensive weak point (one of the two) in loaning a LB.. Then IF we address the main issue, goals, by signing an absolute lump, a carthorse of a player: with no pace, no movement and an arse the size of Bimpys mrs then we deserve to be shot with shit. Utterly pointless, we may as well persist with what we have or recall Armstrong. Gomis is utter shit.

timeEd32
Doumbia sounds like a good option to me. Gomis would be a disaster.

toontownman
Doumbia is closer to what we need. Pace, power and versatility. Seems a bit like oberfemi from the limited amount I have seen. In a way he might be better for us in the short term than berahino and might work better with Mitro. Also reported to have a great character and attitude on the training ground and towards other players. Gomis brings next to nothing. A slight upgrade on Shola, won't compliment Mitro at all. Would be a massive failure if we end up there.
xLiaaamx
Personally think we'll just end up going with what we have now since we've got the infamous "2 or 3"
LoveItIfWeBeatU
I'd have been relatively happy with Gomis on a free last Summer (as it didn't look like we'd be shopping at the top end of the market). I'm not a fan of paying £7m for him now. I'd rather gamble on Doumbia.

Flamed out in MLS on loan a few seasons back. Top scorer in the Copa Sudamericana two years running, 6 goals in 12 for Ecuador including 2 at the Copa America last summer. About as random a transfer rumor as it gets.

About as random a transfer rumor as it gets. I vaguely remember him at Chivas USA (LA) and doing poorly but to be fair... 1. Chivas were an incredibly bad team 2. As much as we criticize the MLS, just about any MLS team could beat NUFC at the moment. NUFC lost to the Timbers reserves while basically fielding a full strength team and only eeked by the USL team the Republic on an OG.

toontownman
Well with Toney out for months, cisse permcrocked and riviere permanent shit I would rule out bringing them both in. If we get doumbia I could handle gomis as back up for Mitro. But can't see swansea loaning him and him wanting to exchange benches.

Guest
This is what happens when you make do in the Summer. Your options are always restricted in the January window and even moreso when you are in a relegation fight. How many of these players would they have signed had they not been desperate? We didn't make do in the summer. We spent more than most. Our problems stem from lack of activity 3-4 years back not last summer.
