Dyche always seemed the obvious choice from the outset, they should have done it on Monday after Lampard had left, would have given him an full extra week of training. As seem to be the case Everton are so shite and mismanaged, that they didn't have that forethought.

Surely Everton are far better off getting a decent sporting director and a young, progressive manager? Even if they go down this season, it'll put them on a better footing in the long run.

 

If they fire fight every season, the cycle will just repeat itself. I guess ultimately that's why they need rid of Moshiri.

Interesting to see if Dyche has done a bit of a Howe in his time away. As industrial as his football is/was, he's far from a stupid bloke.

 

He'll surely know he has to evolve given the way the game's going and if he wants to succeed at a club like Everton.

He's not stupid, but think he's like fat sam and is stubborn with a big ego. He'll not change. 

 

It was always dyche. No idea why they've done this merry dance pretending there were other options. Just wasted time they could have had prepping.

Bit of a shame for Dyche if he's seen as the new Allardyce. Maybe clubs don't want him, but I'd have liked to have seen him go somewhere that wasn't in crisis.

At this point in time what do Everton fans want?

 

They're on their way down now, if they somehow manage to get out of the mess then surely the can put up with a couple of years of consolidation with Dyche and then look to progress if that's not coming with him. If they're relegated they've a bloke who knows how to get promotion & will probably be able to grind out results in the Championship.

Harsh on Dyche that, he was very successful with 1 club similar to Howe at Bournemouth. He even did a pretty decent job at Watford as well, he's not a fancy name and was possibly limited by situation at Burnley with their style of play. He's a better appointment for now than Bielsa would've been.

Think Dyche is a really difficult one to predict. It's a similar appointment to Howe in many ways, given that he achieved legendary status at a smaller club over ten years and has since been out of the game for an extended period.

 

Howe's achievements are remarkable but it's arguably a harder job turning Everton around. The team was performing terribly but everything else was relatively stable, purely due to the effect of the takeover. Howe had the benefit of being able to ride a palpable and visceral wave of optimism, whereas Dyche is just the latest guy entering the absolutely toxic cesspit of Goodison (and it's surrounding neighbourhood). 

 

Won't be surprised if he fails but it might not necessarily be a reflection of him.

I think they’ve made the right appointment here, although I still expect them to go down. They don’t score goals, which is ultimately what did for Burnley last year.

There's no question he's just about the best appointment they could make but the squad quality combined with the toxic ownership situation means that it'll be impossible to reverse the slide.

 

They play Arsenal and Liverpool in their next two fixtures so it's a nightmare start too

To me smells of an appointment that has one eye on relegation. I don't think he's as basic as some make out, the job he did with Burnley on those funds was incredible. Their squad was filth for his entire tenure.

The bottom of the table is filled with so much shit that it may be enough to save them, if I was another team down there I'd be concerned about this appointment, if I was an everton fan I'd still not feel comfortable about staying up. Will be interesting to watch how the relegation unfol

I wanted them to get relegated last season but its hilarious what's happening to them this year. it seems that its a matter of sooner or later that they go down.
