Cameroon look alright here...going forward anyway. Which of the African teams is most fancied this year?

Ghana, Nigeria, and Cote D'Ivoire are more highly regarded. Cameroon have failed to qualify for two consecutive Cup of Nations, though they obviously have talent. They have been suspect at the back and are aging upfront. They should at least battle in that group, though.

Surely Ivory Coast must be the only team with a slight chance of quarter-finals?

 Ivory Coast should be favoured to finish second in their group. I believe both Ghana and Nigeria have a good chance to make the second round as well and anything is possible from this point. Ghana 2010 team was nothing special, but nearly made the semis. Cameroon and Algeria will finish last in their groups, imo. This is all just conjecture and prediction, the likes of which we have heard for nearly a year now. It is not long until the final reckoning.

Fwiw, I don't think Ivory Coast are an exceptional side when compared to the rest of the Africans, even though the names stand out.

I was just thinking that Ivory Coast surely has the biggest chance of winning their group. Although they'll play England, Uruguay or Italy in the last 16 so...

First WC I'm watching away from Korea.  Just won't be the same without the drink and crazy people doing crazy things

 Not sure if serious. Where are you now?

Boston innit? As if they don't have crazy alcoholics there.

It's not the same when you're not all supporting the same team though!

Defenders: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Erik Durm, Kevin Grosskreutz (Borussia Dortmund), Benedikt Hoewedes (Schalke 04), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal)

Midfielders: Julian Draxler (Schalke 04), Matthias Ginter (Freiburg), Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich), Christoph Kramer (Borussia Monchengladbach), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund), Andre Schurrle (Chelsea), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)

Forwards: Miroslav Klose (Lazio), Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich), Lukas Podolski (Arsenal)
