oldtype
I'll just get straight to the point. Do you think that we shouldn't try to win a cup in the same way that: Swansea, Wigan, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Spurs, Middlesbrough have won cups in the last 10 years (that's 6 times out of 10 years where "non-entitlement clubs" as you put it have won cups) or compete in finals in the way that Millwall, West Ham, Cardiff x2, Everton, Portsmouth, Stoke, Bolton, Wigan, Villa, Bradford and Sunderland have in the last 10 years? (that's 12 times out of 10 years where "non-entitlement teams" have competed in a finals) Of course we should try what else is there to do. I just don't find it appealing that all we have to look forward to is a small chance at the cups.

The point I'm making is that list of clubs in the above post highlights that it's not a small chance at all.

I've no doubt we'll spend. Unfortunately we might as well flush the money down the toilet as let Pardew get his hands on it. We did the same with Souness and most people were delighted with it, apart from me. Giving money to shit managers is the most preposterous form of false economy. Guest TruToon94
This man will take us down next season, no doubt about it. Without Cabaye or Ben Arfa, I don't know what we're going to do. If he gets money that would be absymal. Be bringing in players in the similar vein to Mullins and trying to meld us into a weird French-Geordie Stoke like abomination. Hell even my Football Manager games on every occasion have him being sacked as we languish at the bottom of the table and if FM manager says it! AyeDubbleYoo
I know what you mean, but I'd still rather have better players because then we might win more games even if Pardew is shit. See Remy.
Mattoon
The fear here is we have a chance to rebuild, it looks like at least some funds will be released and if Pardew has too much of a say in those dealings it will be an abomination. This will more than likely lead to us struggling and eventually lead to the long overdue sacking of Pardew. A new manager comes in with not much to work with and Ashley feels burnt after spending the cash to no avail, hence won't be tempted to do it again any time soon. Not getting rid of Pardew has disaster written all over it on so many levels, both in the short term and long term interest of the club.

Not getting rid of Pardew has disaster written all over it on so many levels, both in the short term and long term interest of the club. Ashley doesn't trust managers after Allardyce spunked a wad of cash on utter dross, that lead him to trusting his mates and Dennis Wise over Keegan. If Pardew has persuaded him that he should be trusted with funds (I have to put up wiv all these frenchies, we need sum english grit to give us sum fret!) then it'll royally fuck up whoever takes over after Pardew inevitably fucks up. Carr won't hang around if he's not being listened to and it's really only the players that he's scouted who have kept Pardew in a job.

Shak
Be so fucking laughable if he sanctioned a massive spending spree with Pardew getting to choose the players. Could attract almost any manager in the world with that, letting a clown like Pardew blow it on big, gimpy retards would be heartbreaking.

Hanshithispantz
He's actually managed to escape it. No way the venom of that Cardiff match will return in a hurry after the break. A half decent start to the season and it'll be back to the pre-Christmas mood, which is complete fucking madness.
