Willow
He's on a fairly low wage compared to the others isn't he? Hope we offer him the lot, but it's all down to what happens in the summer of course. Should definitely be in the England squad.
cubaricho
I hope he goes, for what it's worth. It makes Newcastle into a more attractive prospect for promising youth if they know they can come here and still get in the England squad.
Dave
Thank fuck that ended with 'the England squad'.
Ashley17
Can't see him getting in the England squad. Smalling was left out of the last squad for not being good enough with the ball and I don't think Lascelles is any better, even if he has improved. The England squad seems like a bit of a closed shop, whereby they've decided on a pool of players at the various levels and if you're not in them, you never will be. The exception to that, oddly, is Jack Cork, but I think that says more about our midfield options than anything. He certainly deserves a cap though as I think he's really under appreciated outside of the region - how many English captains are there in the Premier League? How many captains are there under the age of 25? England could do a lot worse (and probably will) but we'll take someone like Joe Gomez because he's in the Under 21 squad. It's ludicrous. Kanj
Didn't he sign a 6 year deal in october 2017?
The College Dropout
Just looked at the last England squad. Stones Maguire Keane Cahill Jones Gomez If fit I reckon 4 of the first 5 go. Personally think Cahill, Gomez and Keane shouldn’t be going.
Kanj
Gomez, man like he'd be doing anything Jamaal is at Newcastle. On form and ability I'm putting out captain up there with those fuckers.

madras
I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the next England get together but think Southgate will rely on big club players for the World cup
morla84
Just looked at the last England squad. Stones Maguire Keane Cahill Jones Gomez If fit I reckon 4 of the first 5 go. Personally think Cahill, Gomez and Keane shouldn’t be going. Only Maguire and Keane been playing regularly in the last month out of them, so they'll only get picked on reputation and Southgate wanting to give them game time. On recent form it should be: Mee Lascelles Maguire Mawson Dunk Tarkowski Not that it'll happen
STM
Lascelles and Stones would have everything.

Ketsbaia
The successful Euro 96 squad was full of leaders and, for that alone, I think Lascelles should go to the World Cup. Obviously his performances too.
Away Day Gadgie
The successful Euro 96 squad was full of leaders and, for that alone, I think Lascelles should go to the World Cup. Obviously his performances too. I wouldn’t go that far like. We were on home turf and the tournament was won by a fairly average Germany. If anything that squad failed as far as i’m concerned. We need to get out of the mentality that getting to the semi final is glorious. I agree with your point that having more leaders in the team though. Kanj
Biased as fuck but I think Jamaal is the best all around English CB on current form - he's better in the air than all of them, very strong tackler, organizer and leader.
Mole_Toonfan
Not exactly a high ceiling mind, Stones looked pretty good before injury this season but that aside the rest are pretty crap.
Kanj
You must hate even the brightest of days, Mole.
Mole_Toonfan
If you think that's hate you have a weird interpretation of the word. Just saying English CBs are in a bad state, he should be starting based on that alone.

afar
Alfie Mawson is in no way > the Lascelles, but wtf obviously Southgate is a genius otherwise he wouldn't be in the top job in England.

Kimbo
Disapointed for Jamaal. Happy for us. Eventually he may think about changing clubs if he wants an international career. It means a lot to some players.
