toontownman
Hughes would be nice, was hoping Derby didn't get promoted just so we had a chance. His injury record though. Likely to only get worse considering how young he started and how many games he has already played. Quality player though. Cook looks decent. Baker and Chalobah linked too right? Both good Chelsea youngsters. We will be linked with every young or promising championship player under the sun over the next 3 months, not to mention raiding the fringes of premier league teams. Plenty of players to get excited about.

STM
I always thought Caulker was class but everyone seems to slag him at every opportunity now. Klopp saw something. Benitez might harness his potential.

mickthemagpie
Is there any evidence that he'd play here besides the fact that he's from the area? He is relocating his business interests to this area giving the impression that he is planning to move back here at some point. It says in that article he is relocating from Jesmond!!! toontownman
Agger and Caulker have been the best names so far, either of them would be fantastic signings. Striker should be our priority though. We will need two CB's if we are binning Colo and Saylor, which we should be. Wouldn't expect Satka or Good to be stepping in either, likely out the door. Could see both of the above coming in if Mbemba is off, don't think he will be though. Would prefer Dunk and Agger. Agger would be fantastic. Hope the Iorfa links are true regardless of keeping Janmaat. We need a decent young backup..
Dave
The signings we make will depend entirely on who is going to leave, because no matter how well equipped you believe the squad is for the Premier League, it's easily good enough to compete in the Championship. Obviously it's not perfect by any means, but we need to be buying players that can also step up if we are promoted.
KaKa
Townsend really worked out well for us. Just wondering if there are any other players in similar predicaments that we can offer a chance to play regularly for us, and really fulfil their potential. One that comes to mind is Victor Moses who Chelsea have really messed about with the constant loans. Wouldn't mind picking him up, as it doesn't look as though West Ham will be signing him now. Ketsbaia
If we stayed up, a striker would be essential. But Mitrovic, Perez and Armstrong will be an amazing collection at this level.

huss9
who did we bring in at the beginning of the season last relegation? didnt Best, Routledge, Pancake come in mid-season?
joeyt
Simpson on loan and Lovenkrands. Zurab and Harewood came in September on loan I think. Pancrate was signed in about November time and Best, Willo and Routledge came in January

midds
And Harewood, van Arnholt, Khizanishvili too. Looking at the standard of the league we should piss it if most of the squad remain. 'Should'.
huss9
when you look at those early season signings, only really lovenkrands that had significant influence over a number of games. mainly the relegated squad that got us through the first half of the season. no real big changes were needed. Ashley17
We stupidly didn't keep him on right away so when he did sign, he was woefully unfit for the first month or so. He barely missed a chance from about December onwards though

Nobody
Neither has Sergio Aguero. Shola Ameobi has though. Which would be the better signing? Tbf, Armstrong has barely played in a level above the Championship and you could argue that Perez and Mitrovic failed in the PL (as they both featured fairly heavily in a team that was relegated), hence not being proven. Not saying that I think they will struggle in the Championship, in fact quite the opposite, but it's not that daft to say that they are unproven. Hanshithispantz
Aguero is unarguable an amazing player though, obviously he'd obliterate that league There's players who just work in the Championship though and experience in the league definitely helps. If we want to play it safe we'd be best off going for a 'Championship striker' than risking Perez, Mitrovic, Armstrong and some other unknown entity, we have little idea how they'll turn out. It was an admittedly stupid and extreme example, but I just can't understand this apparent concept that we should be looking to employ a manager and players that AREN'T good enough to be at the highest level. Doesn't make any sense to me.
