Just realised that 15% minimum is only for the FA Cup :huff: EFL rules state 10%

2,500 it is then, whilst we play in a stadium with thousands of empty home seats.

22.2 In all Cup Competition matches, the Visiting Club shall have the right to claim 10 per cent of all tickets reserved or otherwise sold in advance (any variation to that figure shall be subject to the consent of the Management Committee)

I thought Reading got a 5,000 allocation at Arsenal last night instead of the usual 3,000?

10% of the Emirates is 6,000 - so that would be right, Reading could have had up to 6,000 but only took 5,000.

Am I right in thinking Hull have a worse team now than when they were promoted?

Didn't they lose a canny few players in the summer and not buy anyone?

Ended up buying quite a few players in the end, all pretty average mind. Ryan Mason probably the best of the bunch which says a lot. Did get Mbokani who's scored against us twice previously

On the last few days of the window they went mad and got Ryan Mason, David Marshall, Mbokani...probably others who are less noticeable. They also had a boat load of injuries which are starting to clear up, Dawson just came back...who is shite but obviously better than playing Jake Livermore at centre back.

What the bookies make of the draw:

Liverpool 9/4

Arsenal 11/4

Man Utd 3/1

Newcastle 10/1

West Ham 11/1

Southampton 12/1

Hull 20/1

Leeds 50/1

Ourselves, Southampton & West Ham are in no particular order across all of them.

Can't think of many Championship sides over the years that would have been made strong favourites away at a Premier League side.

Semis line up could be canny if it was Leeds,  West Ham, us and Southampton. I'd expect Liverpool to get through. Did West Ham win or draw at Man Utd in the FA Cup? Remember Payet scoring a free kick. Southampton are more than capable of pulling off an upset against Arsenal. We just have to make sure we're not too over-confident to win. Need Rafa to keep the players feet on the ground.

But a semi-final at a sold out St. James' Park on a cold wintry night in January, bring it on!

Drew and then lost the replay.

Nothing to lose here, its just nice to have a cup run, we definitely have enough about us to beat these lot and should we do that anything can happen in the semis in these kind of competitions.

We go out we focus solely on the league, and focus on going again with a stronger team next season in the premier league, we stay in, we have a shot at winning it with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work.

Really want to go to the Hull game.

going to be a busy week, and i think for the first time this season rafa may actually prioritize the cup game. we need to win all 4 of our league games before then.

The number one thing is the league, this is a bit of fun, its got us excited but Preston first...each game etc. Stick to the plan, Rafa knows the first job is promotion 2nd spot or play off at worst anything else is a bonus, i still think he will change a few dor this.it wont be easy but we are full of confidence and scarily have nothing to lose being from the little league.

Hilarious stat from NUFC.com that we have never scored ourselves in the eight quarter finals we have played in this competition. The goal that put us on the way to the 1976 final was a Notts County own goal.

Another monkey for Rafa to get off our back!

Just looking at the calendar - guess this'll be played the Tuesday night of that week, as we are already scheduled to play Forest that Friday, on Sky.

EDIT: Sorry, just seen Fugazi mentioned it on previous page.  :giggs:

Rafa Benitez says Newcastle will approach next month's EFL Cup quarter-final tie against Hull City with "hope" - but also plenty of respect for their Premier League opponents.

United marched into the last eight with a 6-0 victory over Preston North End and were drawn away to the Tigers, who currently sit 18th in the top flight.

And while his side avoided the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Benitez's former club Liverpool, the Magpies' manager knows that Hull will be determined to make home advantage count as they bid to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup for the first time in their history.

"At this stage of the competition, there were a lot of Premier League sides so it was always likely to be a difficult tie," Benitez told nufc.co.uk.

"We have confidence, because we are doing well, but we have a lot of respect for Hull because they are a Premier League team and we will play away from home.

"So we will approach the game with hope that we can do well - but also knowing that it will be a hard game against a side from a higher league."
