SEMTEX
I have nothing against Gouffran, but I feel like we're going to spend the entire game lumping the ball up the pitch, only for it to come back 2 seconds later.

HaydnNUFC
Can see why he's went with Gouff like, he's closer to what Benitez wants in a striker, but I cannot see what Murphy has done to not be given another shot. Was absolutely atrocious against QPR tbf. Almost everyone was tbf.
AyeDubbleYoo
Only choice was the striker really and I can't see that Murphy is clearly the better option. Fingers crossed Gouffran can provide some mobility and the others can exploit the spaces.

We only tend to do that when Mitro/Murphy start. We weren't doing that for Gayle. If we do play long balls they need to be up the line for Gouffran to chase. NEEJ
I'm happy with that line up, like. (I'm never happy with Jacky boy, to clarify.)

We've been playing it over the top all season regardless of who's upfront. Make sense with Gayle given his pace, obviously.
Kasper
Rafa knows our striker won't touch the ball so better just stick the shittiest player upfront. Mitrovic is on the bench. Congrats. He'll probably be as involved but won't have to run as much.
Tiresias
Would prefer Perez to Gouff up front Really? He's been rancid apart from one game for ages now

The last time Gayle played he didn't even touch the ball. Not sure if this means we lumped it up and he couldn't get on it (as I suspect), or we didn't even get as far as lumping it forward. Either way, this is pretty much what I expect to see with Gouffran on his own upfront.
Ikon
Can see us looking to press them high up the pitch giving them no time on the ball. Like we did really well against Hull in the 1st half.

Still think his best run for us was on his own up front when he first came
r0cafella
Good selection that Gouff is quicker than both Murphy and Mitro and could provide a limited amount of threat on the counter.
Kasper
Aye, if we get pressed from the back we resort to lumping it high all day long. Can see that happening today.

SEMTEX
Can see us looking to press them high up the pitch giving them no time on the ball. Like we did really well against Hull in the 1st half. Not to be unnecessarily confrontational... but this is pretty much the opposite of what I think will happen. All 11 players sit deep as fuck, hope to counter on the wings.

Danh1
Worryingly Brighton are due a penalty, think they've went a whole 2 games without one.
Hanshithispantz
Other than the obvious advantages of Gouffran upfront in a Benitez side he's also probably far more likely to be on the end of Atsu flashing balls across the 6-yard box than Mitro is. The more I think about it the less worried I am tbh.
