Bales not a winger anymore

He is

Zidane playing him either up front or RM/LM (sitting back in a 4-4-2/4-5-1) is what's made him look so shite, the odd occasion he gets into the wing position he looks decent

He needs to Ronaldo it at this point, basically become a striker in all but name.

Not sure 442 is much of a help to his talents either, he's not some grafter winger like Ritchie or something.

I do understand why they do it though, Messi isn't the tracking back lunatic he used to be and they probably need to make sure it doesn't hurt them defensively.

Rooney's had quite the decline given how good he was. Doesn't seem that long ago that he was being (wrongly/unfairly) heralded as England's only hope.

Rooney was 16 when he made it into the Everton first team so he's been playing top division football for 16 years. His body will have taken a hammering.

Banging minging old scrubbers up back alleys, theirs and literal ones won't have helped either. Riddled most likely...

Not too sure if making love to mature ladies is the cause of his downfall mind.

Yeah I think people underestimate this a lot in footballers, especially so in 'explosive players' like Rooney. Its the same with Fernando Torres, he was palying regularly at the top level since 17 and people were wondering why he was finished at 29.
