Guest
I thought it was his best game since the restart like.
Cf
Thought he was generally good yesterday and it helps he's on the same wavelength as the rest of the team, particularly Trippier. Scoring worldies every game was never going to last. He's on my list of probably want to upgrade him one day but there's other positions ahead of him for a while yet. Nattfare
Should have had at least three assist too if his teammates knew how to finish rather than aim for the moon.
Shays Given Tim Flowers
He is performing very well indeed. Sometimes we might need a different way of playing but he should be part of the squad for the foreseeable.
Gallowgate Toon
Should've had an assist. Some tremendous runs. Excited to see what he can do as we integrate Isak and ASM into the starting XI more. In theory, it should open up more space for him, Trippier and Bruno to do their thing. aussiemag
He took the ball down the line and used his right foot a few times, which was nice.
Newcastle Fan
Thought he was quite poor first half but got better in the second half and created what should've been the first goal chance, his performance has dipped recently but hopefully he can recover it going forward. The College Dropout
Needs a rest imo. This weekend will do him good.

I thought he did really well in the first half as well, on another day they're a man down after that challenge on him by Caleta-Car or he rides the challenge and it's either a shot at goal or a pretty easy square to Wilson. Guest
Goals might be drying up but his final pass has been really impressive recently.
Newcastle Fan
He's putting in the effort and his decision making is so much better but i do worry he will slip back to his old habits of not producing in the final third, needs to get a goal soon to get his confidence back up. joeyt
Thought he was taken off too early tonight
Lenny
Given how frequently he's being subbed, I wouldn't be surprised if we're managing his fitness for fear of burnout. He's crucial for us at the moment.

Slim
Obviously brought off for West Ham game. We were 2 - 0 up really so whats the point of keeping him on. Rather be fresh for weekend.
The College Dropout
Back to the old Miggy. I'll be delighted if he can score and assist another 6 for the rest of the season. That purple patch is well and truly over.
The Butcher
1 year left in the summer. I'd cash in tbh.
Newcastle Fan
Went back to his old self lately, maybe we need someone else to take the piss for him to start scoring again.
Beren
Wonder if we ought to switch him to the left for a bit. He seems stuck in a bit of a rut. Working hard without any cutting edge.

That purple patch is well and truly over. To say he's "Back to the old Miggy" is wrong like, he's still been pretty decent recently despite the the lack of goals, his link-up play is light-years to where it was, he is much better with the ball at his feet, and he's much more decisive and knows what he wants to do, and 9/10 he finds his man. He's also the player who triggers our press so plays a vital role in our team.
gbandit
I think the ‘back to his old self’ comments are harsh like, teams are wise to crowding him out now and he’s getting less space. He’ll never have the trickery to beat people out wide and leave them for dead but his hold up play, his ability to cut in and his tracking back means we should be holding onto him. If he gets space on his left he’ll continue to be a threat too
Weezertron
He's still getting assists, no? Unlucky on the disallowed goal today. Edited February 4, 2023 by Weezertron
joeyt
His lack of right foot can be such a hinderance in games where we're struggling to break down the opposition
Guybrush
Just can't take his work rate out of the team. Everyone starting to look a bit leggy but Miggy continues to run and run with unlimited energy

I did expect such reactions once his goals dried up, which they had to inevitably, but you are right, he's still doing the right things, he's still looking to hit spaces aggressively, other than the goals I don't think he's doing much wrong. If Howe wants more from him, could only be that he needs to get himself in scoring positions again, not just spectacular efforts from the edge of the penalty area either, he needs to be attacking the far post when the ball comes in from the other side.
