Guest chopey
Ashley will take Newman and George with him to Sunderland.
pedro111
Cannot stand the sight of the bloke. Fire him off the Tyne bridge the moment the takeover is confirmed.
Dr Jinx
It is win-win for him. He’s done ok. We’re not relegated. It was only going to get worse for him season on season if Ashley was still owner. This way he can peddle the line, “we’ll see what happens, they might want to bring their own people in” Leaves with his reputation enhanced* , gets a pay off and then ends up at Sunderland in 2/3 years from now when they get into the Championship. Everyone is happy.

pinkeye
Remember wasn't Mark Hughes in charge at Man City when they were taken over? Was he? Think I am right...
Chicken Dancer
Remember wasn't Mark Hughes in charge at Man City when they were taken over? Was he? Think I am right... For about 15 months I think. F*ck that.
TheInfiniteOdyssey
We're 13th in the league with the majority of the season played, he's quite clearly demonstrated that he's incapable of being that man
TK-421
To be honest, as much as I dislike him as a manager and don't want him here any longer than necessary, I can kinda understand them letting him finish this season however it finishes. The players will be used to him, and to bring someone new in now with new ideas, may not be the best thing. Then we end the season as best we can, and then they can let him go and bring their own man in for the next chapter. But Steve Bruce guiding us to Europe. like Ever??? Chicken Dancer
Sky reporting he'll be given to the end of the season to prove he is the right man to guide Newcastle to Europe Wouldn't be concerned, he knows he is a dead man walking and likely so does everyone else. Inevitable that he will be replaced at the first opportunity.
wormy
Depends on when the season continues imo. If the season has kicked back off/is kicking back off by the time the sale is complete, let him have the rest of the season. If it completes before the season restarts and their chosen man is available, would you not essentially be giving him a mini pre-season to work with the team by getting him in ASAP? TRon
Let's face it, there's not much left of the season, I think Steve will be left in charge to wipe the arse of what's left of it, and we'll get a fresh start with a new manager as soon as it's done. For all we know, the chosen one might still have commitments elsewhere, e.g. Rafa.
Collage
Sky reporting he'll be given to the end of the season to prove he is the right man to guide Newcastle to Europe Well, he won’t prove that.

For all we know, the chosen one might still have commitments elsewhere, e.g. Rafa. will the season officially end before the transfer window opens (I appreciate you don't know the answer to this). Just I don't mind letting him see the season out when he can affectively change nothing and do nothing to affect the next/coming season, but 1. if the manager is able to come now/when needed and 2. the window opens while the end of season plays out I don't want Bruce anywhere near the "new" club. Pilko
Of course they'll tell him to "prove he's the right man", they can hardly tell him and the players that his fat arse will be booted down Barrack Road soon as the season is done can they? They need to give him that pretend hope or else the uncertainty could lead to us playing even more poorly. He'll get us the 5 or 6 points we need for survival, maybe 7 or 8 with a fair wind, then he'll be given a Golden Wonder handshake and fucked off for someone coherent, competent, ambitious and more befitting of a Premier League club. Kanj
Pilko, Of course we want a new man day 1 and to Bruce to get kicked to the curb immediately but if we have to endure Bruce until end of season to sort out Rafa's return or bring in a world class manager to lead us forward, then so be it. Strawberry
If they get Rafa they wouldn't keep Bruce. Rafa knowing the league and players wont be any risk taking right now. I believe their target for manager job is new to the country and the league so it is hard to gamble for the remaining 9 games.
NG32
Makes perfect sense for the reasons others have pointed out. He'll be peddled the minute the club is safe or its future secured.
Guest
Will be interesting to see how the players respond knowing they’re playing for a dead man walking. They’d be best off sacking him now and motivate them to show if they’re worthy of staying to try moving the club forward.

AyeDubbleYoo
Depends what happens with the season and the transfer window etc. No point chucking him before there's a clear plan in place. He clearly won't be part of any long-term planning.
gjohnson
Barring him winning the each and every one of rest of the seasons games comfortably and actually having more than 40% possession in most of them everyone including himself knows he won't be around much longer. toon25
Someone intelligent like Rafa could hit the ground running with the squad that we’ve got. The biggest worry is that they’ll keep Wuh Steve until the end of the season. Bin the cunt now rather than risk another 8/9 games of turgid shite football and running the risk of relegation. Any chairman worth his salt would take a glance at the statistics and realise that it’s a risk keeping the twat in charge any longer than is necessary.
